I tend to find it used by someone looking for a man who will play the active/top role and not want to swap or get involved in sucking or getting fucked by the person playing the passive/bottom role.

The 'straight' reference is also used to give a 'sign' to those... (how do some say it here.. are fab straight...) men who are open to playing with other men but only if they take the 'traditional' male role.

Anyway that's my experience and how i tend to interprete it.. but others may see if differently. Hope that helps.
