I have a unopened bottle of Bombay Spahhire that is over 10 years old in my bar ... I don't know if it's still safe to drink... but I'm thinking of giving it as a gift... is it safe?

Glastonbury

It's alcohol, it does not go off.

Very occasionally they find amphorae of Greek or Roman wine in the Mediterranean that is sometimes (very rarely) drinkable.

Oh yes! I love gin, any gin lovers should look up the gin festivals, great afternoon/evening!

It should be absolutely fine. I'm lucky if a bottle last 10 days, a number of my friends are also gin enthusiasts!

Mmmmm gin - the nectar of the gods (well, along with single malt and rum and real ale and full bodied Italian reds).

Oh and white and rose and, well, almost anything (except lager - bleuurgghhh).

Wow this is crazy .... no one drinks Gin here except maybe a traditional martini drinker... I never had vermouth in my bar so that's why I never opened it... I just wanted to make sure I didn't poison the person I was giving the Gin too..

On a side note vodka doesn't last a night at my house... Grey Goose, and Ciroc are the most popular over here...

Grey Goose is better, imo, but if you must insist on drinking gin (essentially English hooch) go for Bath Gin.

I am a member of a gin club, and get sent new ones to try every few months. I tried a Negroni last month (yum) and am happy to have a few G&Ts. Unfortunately gin does not like me - the mornings after are much worse than with vodka.

I'm very surprised Gin is so popular there... what I did notice when in the U.K. Was beer and cider were not expensive in pubs ... but cocktails were like 10-20 pounds each in London and Manchester... So I mostly drank real ale and ciders in pubs but hard liquor in people's homes...

My sister used to do her own sloe gin. For those that don`t know, sloes are the purple/black skinned berry from the blackthorn bush/tree. I don`t know how she did it but I think there`s sugar and sloes added to the gin. It comes out red and quite sweet or at least hers did! I think the alcohol level is increased too! You can buy sloe gin but it`s nowhere as good as home made stuff!

I make my own too, as well as bramble liqueur. The alcohol content is reduced - usually to about 20%, because of the juice in the fruit. But if you mix it with some fizz it makes a lovely drink.

I have to say that for 16 quid, Lidl's Hortus gin is bloody good.

Especially for cocktails and the like. Miles better than a Gordons or similar.

I've had a bottle of Gin Tinto (Portuguese gin) sitting unopened for ages that I really must crack into, just don't have the time.

"I'm off to a Gin festival today in Wolverhampton with plenty of different gins to try.

"

Aww a fab friend told me about this yesterday, gutted I'm not free this evening otherwise I'd have happily gone along with him. I'll have to wait for the ones in Oxford and Guildford I'm booked to go along to. Have a great time!

Well I learnt something you can get Clitoris Gin, the main botanical is from the Clitoris flower. I can report it's a very tasty gin too.

The Oxford and Cheltenham wine co. Do a gin experience in Oxford. You get to taste six or more find and try them with different tonic. It's amazing how the same vin can taste very different depending on the mixer.

I have indeed referred to this amazing gin in an earlier post RobsRocket. Our wifey is the Mrs Kipling of Rhubarb & Ginger Gin, it is 'exceedingly good'
