Why is smoking such an issue and why is it frowned upon so much To me if i meet a non smoker i will use gum and not smoke for an hour or so beforehand. So why do some people freak out. Also a lot of smokers won't meet smokers...

If you smoke you can't get rid of the smell. Brush your teeth and use gum all you want but a non smoker can taste it. Not to mention smell it on clothes and hair etc. Each to their own.

its true, its very difficult to hide the smell of smoke, but not impossible. I get why it puts some people off, me? I love it... smoke and larger... reminds me of my first girl friend... ah memories...

Basically this. It stinks and it's not a pleasent smell or taste. Not all smokers are considerate like you OP and many will be unaware how much the vile smell lingers.

I met a bloke last week, (off another site) We met outside a pub, inside he complained that there had been smokers smoking near him and the smoke had drifted down and got on his new jacket, and the he would have to take it to the launderrette at the weekend. I believed him, until we went back to his and were kissing. He tasted very faintly of fags! Lol xxx

I don't mind ladies who smoke. My sense of smell has never been great and while I can taste it when snogging it doesn't put me off.

However I know it does make clothes smell, and "not smoking for an hour beforehand" really doesn't achieve anything in this regard nor to how the inside of your mouth tastes.

My wife is one of those who strongly prefers not to meet smokers. Her sense of smell is 'normal' and she just finds it very unpleasant and a turn off.

No amount if gum or brushing can hide the fact that someone has smoked that day.

I find a nice smelling man a huge turn on. When I meet someone it's how they smell that is one of the first things I notice. No matter how much you try and cover the smell of smoke it doesn't completely go. Ontop of that I love kissing and as a non smoker it's hugely evident if a man has smoked, even after an hour and with gum so for me, I prefer non smokers for that reason, I don't like the smell or taste of smoke so when there's lots of hot non smokers on here, they would be my preference

I am a smoker have been for years, i do respect non smokers even if they choose to meet me and they dont smoke. Its on my profile that i do so im pretty sure that when others message me they know that. I do understand smoke makes the hair, clothes and breath smell and for non smokers that dont like it i can imagine how off putting it is for you guys. Each to their own some dont mind some do mind as long as its stated on profiles people have that choice to meet or not.

I've just stopped smoking (day 15!) and I'm done. I know how much better I feel not smoking so I'm a bit pleased with myself.

I'm not sure if I would meet smokers now. I'm fortunate that not very many of my friends smoke but I'm avoiding the ones who do. I'm sure it'll stop being so hideous but the smell is revolting. I don't want to be one of these anti-ex-smokers but I'm definitely not interested in licking a smoker anytime soon.

but to me they know I'm a smoker. So it's just about being as considerate as I can rather than trying to hide it... Plus I've met people many times who have said randomly when at a club, I had no- idea you smoked. I don't smoke many and have a vape now too

Vaping....first off I will say that I am not especially bothered by smokers and smoking though I can certainly smell it. However my wife is. She finds the smell, in a building, on clothes, on a person and the taste it leaves when snogging them all very unpleasant.

We had a vaper staying in our flat while we were on holiday a few months ago. This lady used to be a heavy smoker and her vaping reflects her nicotine need. She vaped away in our flat while we were away, and when we returned we detected nothing. Absolutely nothing.

A few weeks later I had a long session with her including deep snogging (which we had done before several times), giving her oral, experiencing all parts of her body. I detected none of the tell-tale tastes that I associate with smokers. Remember that ladies who smoke do not bother me, but I can detect the taste in their tongue, mouth and vaginal juices.

So I would say that vaping is genuinely different. It doesn't seem to linger inside a room, it doesn't linger in hair or clothes - at least I didn't detect anything. It doesn't leave a taste on the tongue or in the fluids of the vaper - at least not in this case.

I'm an ex smoker and I try to avoid meeting smokers, it does not bother me as such the main problem I have when meeting off here is that I like to meet in public first and that usually intails a pub for a drink and chat and I'm scared after I've had a couple of drinks I'll be pinching a fag off him

The first thing we realised when we stopped smoking 5-6years ago is how stinky the whole house was, everything smelt of smoked tobacco, even freshly laundered clothes. Took about 6 months for the smell to dissipate. When a smoker passes us on the street can always smell them even if they're not smoking. But yes there does seem to be a little hysteria about smokers.

It's also in the search part... click non smokers and you still have a variety of choice

there is, but it's not a filter so it doesn't stop smokers who don't read it or don't care about others preferences from winking, messaging and sending friend invites then getting arsey when we politely decline because we don't meet smokers...

A smoker is 100% obvious even when they think that they have disguised the fact with Gum etc.

I do meet smokers now, as some do make a good effort to clean teeth and also I have had some jolly good fucks off smokers XXX

I really don't see why smokers or anyone needs sticking up for. It's a preference/choice to meet who you want or not, same as body size, shape, sexual preference, shot er or taller, busy or flat chested. It's not about sticking up for anyone.

There will be many who don't like the way some conduct themselves on the forums and no matter how attractive they are physically they'll just get looked over or blocked/filtered out.

All we can do is present who we are and find those who wish to meet and maybe take it further....but even that's not guaranteed even if you meet for coffee.

Totally agree. I used to date a 40 ciggies a day lady.. never bothered me.. let alone it oozed out of her as some people above have mentioned..utter nonsense. Never experienced it and will never put me off dating a smoker. No need to tarnish smokers as some disease ridden people that will spread some smoking disease.

That's not true because If you don't smoke in your house, so your clean clothes wouldnt smell and as long as you don't have a smoke for a couple of hours before brushing, mouth washing and chewing gum you won't be smelling smoke

Before coming to the conclusion that I'm not a quitter after 8 months I was shocked how much my clothes stank of ciggies. Two washes to get it out. No amount of brut or wrigleys can sort it out I'm afraid. People mind it or don't. Can hardly be morally outraged that people don't like certain tastes and smells. I wouldn't particularly like to meet someone with a cabbage like aroma and avocado breath. Each to their own and all that

No the smell gets embedded deep into your fingertips to the degree washing them does help, so the minute you touch "clean clothes" the smell transfers, trust me as a non smoker your very highly sensitive to just the slightest smell/taste of it. Most heavy smokers/prolonged smokers have a natural yellowing to their fingers tips over time due to how deeply the nicotine embeds into them and stains them

Well they have a valid point.

The way some smokers have a blatant disregard in their puffing with non smokers present would indicate their general attitude to health in general. Just like your flippant response to their valid comment and others on here. Your flippancy here on this subject could also be seen as a reflection with the way you treat possible meets....which is also a valid view even if not correct.

The way one comes across effects how we are perceived and how we percieve others.

It would seem you and a quite a few others don't like that others have a different opinion which can be just as valid.

I thought forums were a place for respect...If one doesn't show respect on the forum can we also assume one doesn't respect those we meet? We all need to be careful when we have differing opinions that we discuss without disrespecting others by putting them down.

It's healthy to have different views...not healthy to go defensive. ..shows insecurities. ..and fab isn't a place for Iinsecurities.

At the end of the day we all have our preferences and we all have the option to state this on our profiles and we all have the choice as to who we meet or not meet ......that goes for smokers ...bi couples. . Body types and so on ....but there's no need to say that just because we smoke we must also disregard other parts of our self's like sexual health ect...we all have the right to have our own opinions....just be nice if all constructive and not nasty ...we are all different and we all have vices good points and bad points about us ....we all have a choice and that's the main thing xxx

As a result I'm now being told I have bad breath, my hair, clothes, and house smell, and my pussy tastes like an ashtray. Oh, and apparently I'm much more likely to have unprotected sex and catch an STD than a non smoker. Go me.

Not only that - it stains your teeth and hardens your palate. Kissing a smoker is rarely a pleasant experience - I just wish some on here didn't lie and pretend they don't smoke!

For me as well I'm put off because smoking affects your lungs/fitness. I've been with smokers in clubs in the early days who were gasping for breath after a few minutes - even though they looked young and healthy on the outside!

And like alcoholics and regular drug takers etc - I find it difficult to relate to people who are Knowingly damaging their health/body and carry on regardless!

And yes - I know I have strong views on it - that's because I've seen too many people I'm close to suffer the consequences of smoking and/or drinking!

I'm a none smoker (mrs) Mr is a smoker. We won't meet smokers and that's down to me. When I and mr got together it was a period that he had stopped. Since then he has taken up smoking again. I love him so I tolerate it. If he had of been smoking when we first met I would never of been with him. I can't comment on the people that smoke 1 cigarette a week or very far and few between. I just know that smokers generally do have a certain smell and taste about them that I dislike. Unfortunately, there isn't an option for not meeting heavy smokers, light smokers or smokers who cover them selves in perfume/aftershave and contstantly eat mints. I'm not for one second implying that smokers are dirty or more likely to have sti's etc. I just choose not to meet them as I find it very off putting. I'd never do anything I wasn't comfortable in doing. In my opinion this is a silly post. It's like asking why people choose not to meet married people when it's easy to take a wedding ring off. I think a lot of people think that people on swingers sites are desperate or that they have no choice in who they sleep with. Not so. If I didn't have that I wouldn't meet smokers but then still decided not to meet you what would you say to that? Would that offend you more? I haven't chose not to meet smokers to offend anyone. That is just my personal preference... and it is allowed xxx

Well there is an increased likelihood that smokers are more susceptible to catching the STD genital warts and find it harder to clear it up once they get it than a non smoker. Does that mean youre guarentee to get it? of course not but it's more of a possibility, some people can be a unknown carrier of it but immune to the symptoms flaring up, they may only get symptoms if there immune system is weakened by illness or in women during pregnancy, when exposed to another unknown carrier, so as a carrier can unknowingly pass it on without any visible symptoms and condoms don't protect against it.
