I have a fwb and he gives me advice on men but only because I'm looking for a relationship. He gives me great sex while I'm looking though I'm not yet sure that once the "benefits" stop that we'll be able to stay just friends though which is a shame as he's lovely and we chat everyday!!

I kind of feel like 'friends with benefits' is a really unkind term. Like, all my friends have benefits - that's why they're my friend. If they didn't have any benefits then they wouldn't be my friend.

I have sex with some of my friends. They are 'friends who I have sex with' just like I have 'friends who I airsoft with' and 'friends who I go to the theatre with'. It's just another activity that I do with them.

Friend you can do regular friend stuff with as well as have sex. Sometimes it's hard tho esp if sex is good and chemistry and friendship. The longer it continues the more chance you run of "catching feelings".

Unless of course you still have others you see regularly but we all have our favourites and everyone to some level suffers jealousy.

I think for me it would hinge on your definition of friend first. I have two fwb's who I've known for about 15 years. There's a solid friendship underlying it so the benefits are an occasional bonus between people who know each other well enough to accept it for what it is and without expectations or worries about pillow talk :p I think I'd struggle to be fwb with someone id just met. Surely that's more of a fb? Or even dating?

I think a FWB is someone you can have a laugh with, meet socially etc and obviously have sex with without it ever leading to commitment.

A FB on the other hand is an someone you just meet for sex without any friendship, commitment or socialising.

Having said that, a FB that develops into a FWB is the best scenario all round

I place the men I interact with in 3 categories

1. Vanilla friends. Self explanatory, no sex involved. I'll say I have very few of them because of #2.

2. FWB. Like someone else said, I think it's an unfair and unkind term. These are friends, I don't regard sex as a "benefit" I regard it as a natural interaction between two individuals (just because society doesn't agree with it, who fucking cares). These are the majority of my true friends, I totally believe that friends can have sex too - why the hell not? My friendship with these blokes is deep and intimate, we talk and share so much at a personal level, we go out and eat, watch movies and concerts after which sometimes we'll have sex. Sometimes we'll watch TV at mine or his, cuddle and kiss and ultimately have sex. Sometimes no sex, just chill and relax together. I've said this before on the forums, I have a deep loving relationship with most of my FWB and I see no reason why I can't love more than one man.

3. Fuck buddies. These are just pure sex, "booty call" type of stuff. A text to a bloke to come over and sex 20 minutes after which they may leave or even stay overnight. Key thing is very little contact or communication in between sexual exploits. I think every girl on Fab has one of these !!

Actually i recon our definitions are not that disimilar. Its a Friend and one you can have sex with. I add its also an ex-lover you can still trust with this life and a person on the scene that you dont have sex with but knows you from outside and again is trustworthy.
