Is it a bigger risk to swing or to visit an escort

A friend of ours who swings also visits escorts, he claims the risk of catching an sti is greater while swinging than with an escort. Now I know that's a sweeping generalisation, but his argument is because it's their livelihood escorts get checked more frequently than swingers.

We are occasional swingers & get checked frequently but how can we be sure our playmates are doing the same?

Most of the time we are soft swap & never do bareback but we're not naive as to say there's no risk.

We also know not everybody goes to get checked, & they certainly wouldn't admit to it on a swingers forum or in person if they didn't, So for those that do how frequently is it? Our clinic recommend going every 3 months but we have to wait nearly 2 weeks for the results.

TBH don't think it's a question we've ever asked anybody but now thinking we should, trouble is not everybody's honest. Do others ask to see others results, isn't it an awkward subject?

Way higher with swinging. WAAAAY higher. People need to remember that, by nature of escorting, the very product is ones vagina/anus...therefore (as with any service provider) one will protect that which provides on income...the same way you're likely to find an uber drivers car is more likely to be cleaner than someone who carpools with their work colleagues.

I find that with swinging, people tend to be EXTREMELY ignorant about the risks associated with the lifestyle. Its gotten so bad that helf professionals have started to pick up on it. Whats even more mind boggling is that you'll watch as people then deny it.

Wrong assumption to make chatting to people not all sex workers go get checked which in my book is silly.

Then its a subject I talk about and I'm always disappointed in the amount of people who don't get checked out at all.

But he may not have anything at all.

It's all very well having risk factors, but I know non-swinging, non escort-using people who are more diseased than my escort friends!

Hmmm....interesting that's there's not much response here. Maybe we should have made it clearer that our query related to safe sex. We find it amazing that this thread is dead and buried in 24 hours where a thread about bareback sex went 'viral' with most posters saying they do it. WTF???!!!

That thread has really scared us and has made us re think our practices including R offering Oral without a condom. If bb is so prevalent how do you know who to trust?? At least with an escort you know they mostly never offer bb ( and those that do advertise it well and charge more!)

The answer is either, or both equally. Risk and reward may vary from individual to individual.

But, the golden rule which is generally considered axiomatic :-

Would probably side with swinging, but it's all to do with how often, who with etc, its like all forms of life, most folk are different. " lust is very hard to control" plenty of escorts on here, know a few of them, done a bit myself, why come on here for free, then logon to another site and charge 100 an hour? Reason, its addictive! Everything in moderation for me and still a fussy git

Based on no actual knowledge of escorts / prostitutes, I'd assume them to be more risky.

As others have mentioned many are doing to feed a habit. They might get tested, but if they test positive there is a financial attraction to carry on doing it.

The risk of stds goes up with the more chance you have of exposure to it. This may be via unprotected sex or just through sheer number of partners. Although there is a risk swingers don't get themselves checked out enough, prostitutes have sex with wayyyyyyy many more people. Men need to wake up and smell the coffee. With a prostitute it's quite likely that you're the tenth that day and the fiftieth that week. It's only when you realise what a conveyor belt it is for some prostitutes that you can finally grasp that you are just one more turn of the screw in an abusive situation.

Not true in every case. There are women/couples on here that are open about escorting as extra income. Not feeding a habit or in an abusive relationship. Just enjoy sex and know they can be paid for it.

Sex is a risk with anyone swinging or escort you don't honestly know their background!! The only way to be safe is use protection but that's limited!! Life is about risk so it's a case what feels right at the time and using your own judgement!!

Where as if a swinger caught something, they would definitely stop having sex... because sex is a hobby not a job.

Personally I get checked every 3 months and touch wood have never had an STI. There's an awful lot of genuine people on here and I'd hope to think they would get checked to.

I'd have no problem any one asking me if I get checked, if its a hobby you need to be safe and enjoy it whilst thinking about others.
