Thing is if you're even a bit committed to the idea you've gone beyond the "what do you think of this idea" stage. If you can't mention it directly, then seeing how she reacts to the idea in a non direct way. Like watching porn with couples, a joke about opening the window to let the postman watch while you're having sex, joke about threesome or chat about article in newspaper. If you bring it up when she's horny and not horny, you'll probably get different outcomes, and if you bring up what you want vs what she might want. and the normal order is to have the discussions before hand, respect not everyone does it that way but the issue when raised and talked about together is probably a lot simpler than saying 'guess what iv'e been up to behind your back'..
