Is kik really that important?

Jump to newest

Near Kettering

We had a nice introduction message from a what appeared to be a lovely attractive couple.

We sent a short reply explaining that we were both at work and would reply when we were together.

Then they asked if we had kik? Apparently not having that was reason enough to get an instant block lol.

This isnt a rant or even a moan, were just curious if kik is that important?

We dont see the need for lots of separate accounts and logins.

We can both log into the same account on here and we both get notified of new messages. Our photos are here and we can add more if we choose to so why do people have kick? Whats the advantages?

Does not having kick mean you wont see someone?

Kik is a numberless, username based instant messaging app and therefore is more discreet than having to give people your mobile number or have a 'fab phone'. I find using the message function on here very tedious, as I'm sure others do. Not having it isn't a reason to block though.

We used it briefly but since getting random messages trying to cause issues.. we have deleted it.

Dont know why people need a way to contact apart from via fab

We have it, seems to be mostly single guys that use it, it is good for using if you don't want to give your number out,

It is also good for multi people chat rather than both trying to read messages on here

A reason to block?? God no

It's useful coz it's like texting without giving out your number at least until your sure about the person/people your chatting to. Useful- yes but a reason to block some for not having it? I think not

As for kik, just like facebook, whatsapp and the rest of that jazz. I personally don't use it. It is easy and anonymous here already anything else is same s*** different arse.

I refuse to get kik. I seem to find that the people that use it don't pay site supporter on here therefore struggle to keep track of a conversation on messages without the added function of message trail.

Seems to be the case to those who won't send a face pic on fab use kik for this too.

It's not for me.. I've nothing to hide and rather keep everything in one place

To some people playing message tennis on websites like this and others is tedious and time consuming.

Alot of people this day and age prefer instant ease of contact which apps like KIK and Watsap etc offer.

Plus it easier to send videos and instant photos etc too if thats what you want.

So in answer to your question OP ...Then yes some people do prefer KIK etc for the reason stated above.

Hope that answered your query ok.

Because on here it lists every message individually

On kik it stores them in sequence by sender which is massively more convenient, especially for those that get lots of messages

In our experience anyone asking to go to kik within a couple of messages will be a fake looking for you to swap dirty messages, pics & vids. Great if you are into that though I guess.

We find kik really useful, as said, no numbers issued so quite private, you can block people, but for us it means we can have a three way "live" conversation running and the banter & flirting can be more involving & instant for all parties.

We tend to have a few messages on here (just checked, last convo was eight) to try and ensure people are genuine & then move it over.

As said anyone asking straight away = block. We also have a bit about fakes etc. using it on our profile which does seem to be dissuading them from messaging.

Getting blocked for not having it & I'd be blocking them back fakes or not..

I find it tedious because it isn't "instant". I like chatting with friends on it. Share 20 messages back and over in a chat in the time it takes for 2 messages to be sent on here.

It is 'live'. Conversation flows more too.

You could also say that just like an in person convo it being instant leaves less time for someone to think about an answer to a question so you tend to find people are more themselves rather than sitting back pondering an answer and coming back with something from someone who they think you want them to be.

We also find its very good for ing out couples where they may make contact to say the lady would like to meet alone but from the language & tone of the chat it is clear you are only talking to the guy.

The best feature on kik is the ability to see if a pic is live or from gallery. So it is easy to out fakes very quickly without passing on your phone number or any personal information. Saves investing time in useless conversations.

Lol & behold they send the standard "Hi you guys look....." message. I'm clearing stuff off kik and notice the profile pic of the old fake has changed to this newbie!! Sent "her/him a message of their own old pics saying I'd be reporting them..

Dont find it an issue. It lists all the chat when you click on a message. Im not wanting to have in depth conversation and fab does all i need. Nor do we need to send more photos. And i have found people try to message one half if its a couples profile which obviously doesn't happen on here so much.

Its not that important but it is a lot easier to use than chatting here.

First of all, once you chat with someone on KIK your message is much more likely to get read, because:

A - They trust you enough to move the chat out of fab, don't have to compete with other people so much

B - You can send pics/vids without needing approval

C - You can easily see a string of conversation, (doesn't disappear after 50 messages)

And even though you don't have to give out your phone number, I only given my KIK to 7 people on here over the course of 1 year.

We had it for a while. But we found that as soon as you started chatting on it they just wanted to use it to exchange pictures or for sexting, and nothing tangible ever came from it.

So now if we get asked if we have it we generally add an extra layer of scepticism over their intentions.

We've noticed it's predominately asked for by the guys. What can be said via Kik that can't be said here?

Certainly not gonna sit around and have a full blown conversation with it so it's not much use to us. We have a separate phone to talk with folk on if we get that far.

That's not to knock Kik for those who do use it, we're all different and use many methods to achieve the same end goal.

I once installed it on my phone and had so many problems just trying to get it set up (connectivity issues) that in the end I just gave up and deleted it.

I don't see the big deal. It's not like you can't communicate through fab - and I do get a little concerned if someone insists on communicating via kik.

On the odd occasion that I have agreed to communicate with others outside of fab, I have often found that it is because they are looking to do things that are outside of fab's rules.

This is why I now state very clearly on my profile that I do not use any of these services.

There are many accounts on here that only try to get your kik handle. Once they get it, they will message you to verify it's active then stop talking. They sell your information to various scam artist. You'll eventually get a message from a complete stranger along the lines of a vague and general but over the top story of someone looking for discreet fun. You just have to be smart enough to know who is legitimate or not. It sounds like you got lucky and I would personally report that account. Lol is a useful tool but like anything you have to be careful.

You can also do group chat on kik so it comes in handy when chatting with a couple as all 3 people can communicate together.

There are no exchanging of phone numbers so it's safer than giving out your mobile number.

There are no exchanging of phone numbers so it's safer than giving out your mobile number.

I don't insist on using it though, and it isn't a reason to block someone if they don't use it."

"We had a nice introduction message from a what appeared to be a lovely attractive couple.

I,'ve got 2 kiks, one I chat to my FWB on (he doesn't want me ringing him up pestering him for sex now does he! Lol)

And another for chatting to others, it is good but to be honest I don't use it all that much for arranging meets.and I wouldn't block someone for not having it. However if that's how people want to communicate that their perogative.I quite often give an email address instead.xx"

why have two? I'm struggling to get my head around that. Why not just use the same one for both?

"I refuse to get kik. I seem to find that the people that use it don't pay site supporter on here therefore struggle to keep track of a conversation on messages without the added function of message trail.

Seems to be the case to those who won't send a face pic on fab use kik for this too.

It's not for me.. I've nothing to hide and rather keep everything in one place "

I'm a site supporter.

I have face pics on here.

I like kik because it means I dont have to log on to fab while out an about, and its easier to chat to one person without looking like I'm ignoring other messages.

Grey and I chat to each other via Kik. We've had no technical problems with it. We also Skype each other when we can. We probably wouldn't use it to chat to others

where the world takes me

I find it useful because i can't be on here when i'm at work and kik means i can carry on conversations or plan meets more discretely in my "day to day" life.

Mind you i never picture swap on there as that's not what i'm looking for, and if someone says no after chatting i leave it there because that's as far as they want to go.

i do use kik

but i have found more and more people dont understand that there is a life away from fab, yes it does instant messages .. when the notifications are working....and yes photos and stuff can be sent on there, but i must admit i just prefer talking on here...the only time i really use kik is just before a meet incase this site crashes or loads slowly on my phone...kik is quicker when stood in the cold on someones doorstep

Tried kik, didn't see the point in having a message service here and elsewhere for the same thing, this site provides everything we need from it, as for reason to block, everyone blocks for the're own reasons, it was obviously reason enough for them to block.
