We all have our preferences. Many people, I guess, apply these preferences to the messages/winks/etc. they receive.

Stating those preferences in your profile is simply pre-filtering, this surely saves everyone involved time, effort and disappointment?!

Personally I am grateful to people who take the time to describe exactly what they are looking for rather than finding out you're not compatible many messages later or even worse when you get to meet. For me, the more detail the better. Thanks ladies for taking the time to prevent me wasting mine!

Was just having this conversation with my other half. He reckons some of the women are delusional on here with their big tick list. I argue it allows people to exclude themselves to avoid wasting time.

Why shouldn't people look for their fantasy on here? They're using it as a filter to narrow down who they hear from, saves them and you time.

Honestly even with a 20 point check list you'll still get people who either don't read or ignore it and chance their arm by sending a message. If you don't like it block the profile and move on.

Perfect reason.

It's my prerogative if I choose to ignore a list of wants / needs or specific interests.

A list helps me to make a reasonably informed decision if I am going to message or not?

If I am so off the mark to their requirements then why should I waste my time (and theirs) on a message that will either be deleted or I get blocked.

So I think it helps.

To those who think it is being picky or it won't be fun!

Unlucky.

It generally means that you fall short (and I have fell short on many occasion) to their requirements and what constitutes fun for them.

Leave the alone, don't worry about it and continue enjoying my time on Fab.

I've got a picky list

but it's a useful filter. For those who read it, usually message me as we may have something in comment, and then I can see which ones haven't but having a quick look at their profile tells me we wouldn't have a chance of meeting.

I run my profile as I see fit, if it isn't liked, oh well.

Even in the unlikely event that I fit through the filter, my feeling is that the meet will be organised and scripted, rather than relaxed.

I appreciate that it saves time by stopping honest but unsuitable contacts. But as an email I've received this week has been from a person who hasn't read or can't understand my profile, (straight male) I wonder how effective filters are.

It's the name of the game buddy. Males compete, females choose. It's the same with almost every species of animal on the planet.

Ask yourself this; If you walked into a shop and there was a 20" TV and a 40" TV, both with the exact same features and quality, on sale for the exact same price, which one would you choose?

I know which one I'd take. The 20" will work fine but I'd get more enjoyment out of the 40".

Fab is the shop, males are the products on offer, and females and couples are the consumers.

I find it amazing that some men still can't grasp this concept.
