"Canon HD camcorder with three mics. Later the AVCHD stream is imported into video editing software to tweak the colour and remove dead time and the soundtrack converted to 5.1 Finally I burn a Blu Ray and keep a backup file offline on an external hard drive. If the other party wants a copy they can have almost any conceivable donestic format. I don't often record my fun...but when I do, it's done properly." Wow your practically a professional

"Snide Go-Pros from China off eBay. 3 for the price one one Go-Pro and the quality is easily comparable. They also come with pretty much every adapter you can think of." Will have a look at that thanks as it maybe a good starting point to see if we want to spent £££

"I think it depends on how professional you want/need to be. The first pic on our profile is a still from a film we made. (Her made it arty by turning it b&w!). We bought an £8 gorilla-type clamp/tripod which came with a bluetooth remote control, clamped to a pot plant!. And we used it with Hers' Samsung phone, recording in HD. For good lighting/film anywhere, it's more than adequate. That's the kind of DIY job we are doing at the moment But I guess we'd best test it out with a third person on the couch with us Ladies, castings begin shortly "

"SJM4000 is a cheap Go-Pro esque camera that is apparently 90% as good for 40% of the price. The advantage of the go pro type is that there are waterproof housings....so good for showers, baths, squirters, and the housing will also reduce noise. If you found yourself filming a lot, you could then invest in a "proper" camera as well, most of which will do full HD video these days." Thanks will take a look

"Thanks everyone GoPro'ers is there a particular model you'd recommend I'm torn between the hero 4 with LCD screen on a sj4000 imitation GoPro much cheaper to see how we get in with it" My mate's a downhill mountain biker and we attached both to his bike for a couple of runs. There was no difference between the two (other than cost) when they were ABX'd.

"Never really filmed anything but my phone has 4k recording technology and a 20mp cam. Does that not make any secondary camera useless? " No, because it's using a sensor that's the size of your little fingernail. Not all 4K, 20mp cameras are made equal.
