West Yorks

Knighthoods: Trevor McDonald, Garfield Sobers, and for the female equivalent, a damehood: Kelly Holmes, Shirley Bassey, and Cleo Laine. And no, they are not hereditary titles.

Really... So you guys have hereditary titles and non hereditary titles?

I'm confused..... I thought once given a title it is passed down forever.... I've met a few people that went out of their way to let me know they are decendants of Barons and Dukes. Please educate a Yank

A knighthood is awarded for exceptional services an is not family related.

I.e. an Olympic gold medallist can not hand his achievement to his family

Near Carmarthen

The whole honours system is corrupt and perpetuates a corrupt establishment.

Gold stars for 'playing the game' and arse licking given by the country's biggest benefits scrounger (because of some magical bloodline?)

Get real as to what is going on.

Sorry OP but a foreign national can only get an honorary knighthood, doesn't get dubbed and can't use it as a form of address. It's in the rules.

Weird world; don't worry Mr OP, we are so old fashioned here we have a house of lords, which are basically our unelected government, we live under an illusion of democracy, we like it, I am not sure why...
