Another thread has got me thinking!

How important is it for a TV to be convincing and why?

Personally I like the full spectrum...I like the 'don't give a fuck' attitude of HPW's and I appreciate the time and effort that some TV's take to become smooth and dress with makeup etc.

Also any TV's that go out dressed in the 'vanilla' world how important is it for you to be convincing and what experiences (good and bad) have you had when out.

I like to look as good as possible but know that my height would probably give me away. There aren't many girls who are 6 foot 2 in their stockinged feet. And as for when I wear heels I really stand out in a crowd

I can't be as convincing as I want to be, but I have passed in public on a few occasions. I went to a transliteration event years ago in Brighton, I got changed at a friends in Hove then went to the event.

Walking from the underground car park to the place, I got mixed reactions. Some noticed I was a bloke and showed disgust, one or two were not sure. I did fool a few people on the way home when I stopped for fuel, I gave the game away when I spoke.

As for looking convincing, it is important to me to look close to being convincing as it is a confidence boost that I am doing things right.

Yes height is always a problem when trying to look convincing being 6ft 3 then wearing 5inch heels to bring it to 6ft 8 isn't ideal for the outside world. I prefer to just stick to the bedroom X

In terms of other convincing aspects like make up and shaving. It depends what you see yourself as or what you want to be for instance if you see yourself as s man in feminine clothes you may not feel the need to shave you just like to feel sexy.

Whilst those that want to imagine or create the illusion that they are a woman they will apply make up and shave smooth like me xx

I hear a lot of TV's talk about their need to be convincing and I was just wondering why. I get that it can be a confidence boost...we all like looking and feeling good after all xx

I'm a bit lucky in that im 5ft 10 so when i got out i normally wear flats or very low court shoes and always dress age appropreate and not too slutty

Has to to look as convincing as possible but then each to there own. Best to dress your age although any one who knows me say I make a younger femme. Must be all the make up. Once got a wolf whistle but when I turned round his guide dog was leading him away

Interesting thread i was chatting to a TV who is a friend of one of mine here in London and he was saying he gets a lot of abuse when out sometimes of guys and still feels scared/nervous dressed sometimes.

I'm from Netherlands and i never see it there of guys, i think the UK maybe isn't as liberal free thinking still and playing in catch up.

We tend to go to gay/tv friendly bars for social nights out so haven't really had any abuse...just a few stares and double takes when getting a d*unken kebab on the way home lol

We'd love to go out more often with other F/TV couples but we seem to be few and far between!

I would like to be more convincing, certainly in using makeup.

It is complicated though, a lot of it is about acceptance of who you are. I used to be extremely paranoid about meeting up with guys in the pub with drab clothing on over sexy undies. However meeting a few very lovely, open minded guys who were totally accepting really boosted my confidence that it is not all about looking 100% convincing to a lot of people.

Having a female kink buddy who keeps telling you that you look good as well helps

Some people can see it some people can't

Personal preference I guess. Some people like me some people don't - I've found most men aren't bothered but you get the occasional guy that won't touch/meet unless completely shaven everywhere

Although, all the bad ones, are from youths 20 years old.

Actually recently, I spent a night in a hotel not far from home. The night receptionist told me I was looking hot as I left at 11pm, and I waved as she said goodbye.

The night manager let me back in at 2am and started up small talk, it wasn't till I responded that he realised, but he was super cool, and actually said I looked amazing and although he insisted he was straight, he couldn't stop staring at my ass!

I'm not a cross dresser but recently dressed for a stag do around Leeds. Made an effort and had full make up done, waxed etc.. Not slutty but classy.

Must say I understand the urge to dress up. Received plenty of attention from men and women. A few looked in genuine shock when I talked in a man's voice.

For me personally i find it impossible not to go out without full makeup and wig clean shoes and of course stocking tops unexposed, people whobnotice others see through my facade, and i used to screen their expression, but if your looking for an expression of disgust disapproval or ( trying to think of the descriptive word for piss taki g ), then you, ll find them as i have, i now however concentrate my attention on my gait mannerisms, and having a confident demeanour which not only makes me focus my attention on a positive frame of reference but , seems to quieten the doubting voice i ve deciphered from the expressions of those predisposed to such attitudes. When you feel good inside , you look better outside i believe.if i have convinced myself that i look the best i can, then that positive self appraisal is gereally reflected by those i communicate with. . I read somewhere only recently a little mantra which i repeat to myself, " what other people think about you is none of your concern"! My expression of my non conformity includes a happy non judgemental view of others and that mostly is what i receive in return. ( bit long winded ), what im saying is my views of how i appear and how i feel have changed over time , and its important to acknowledge the indivisible link.

Personally I find it varies each time I dress albeit I think facially I am not that convincing others seem to have differing opinions on that (Not just to get me on my knees either

) so to try and perhaps compensate for that I do my best to dress as convincingly as possible and play to my assets..

By assets I mean I am told I have pretty good legs, especially in heels, and when I pose in a particular way rather a good arse

Anyway basically I dress as I want and not to appeal to others so if they don't like it then tough

I personally like the very feminine and masculine of both sexes. So if a man dresses as a woman, but still looks very masculine, I don't find it a turn on. I prefer it when they dress as a woman and look like a woman. If that makes any sense at all

For me, being convincing isn't the goal but the by-product.

I want to be a beautiful woman so work very very hard towards that. I don't quite manage the beautiful bit but do manage to make a convincing woman, albeit ugly.

I don't really care if everyone knows I am a t-girl, in fact, it is good for people to know that I am as we suffer from a very bad negative stereotype. I have come out to a lot of people and don't try to hide what I am when out and about - happy to use my male voice, male credit card etc.

It wasn't always this way though - at first it was about being able to get out without fear.

I try to be as convincing as I can when I go out. If I get no reaction at all, that's what I want.

I've never had any problems with going to cafes, bars etc or shopping, trying on clothes and so on. If people read me they just don't bother.

Indoors of course may be a bit different as it's so deliciously sexy to wear all that gorgeous lingerie, stockings, panties.....and of course in that situation any male part tends to show!!!
