Just curious on everyone's thoughts.....

I'm bi and my 17 yr old son has just recently come out that he's gay. Obviously, my son has no idea about my bi side.

Do you think that being bi/gay is in the genes?

Brighton - even Hove!

I don't think so. My bisexuality came about by accident as far as I can make out.

I think most people are bi

Whether you act on it or not is another matter.

Maybe it depends on how free you are to act out your fantasies and desires.

I say at least try before you bi

I disagree, I think a lot of people on Fab are but not most people.

I'm certainly not.

Genetics could play a part in it, like any of our characteristics?

I think we're born to enjoy sex.

Then culture takes over and we assume a sexuality based on that.

What I've done is no one's business and I don't have to justify myself for being straight. It's not against the law

I have

Tried it, didn't like it so never bothered again

I think that safely makes me not bi

I didn't really ever have any interest in women i just did it to shut othet people up who insisted i should at least try

I don't think they were asking ou to justify yourself, just simply asking if you've tried it. I'm in the mind frame that I don't dismiss doing most things unless I've tried it and know for definite I don't like it. (Unless it's anything really extreme or illegal)

Thought I'd mention it because some people genuinely don't realise. Even some professionals don't - I have a male to female trans friend and her payhchologist was quizzing her on whether she'd fancy men or women after the operation

Where the streets have no name

Sexual orientation seems to be initiated by diferences in testosterone levels of the mother during the pregnancy, possibily for genetic causes. Actually it is statistically significant that sisters of gay men use to be more fertile than the average in women.

However, the experiences in our lives have an important influence in that orientation.

Conclusion: if you like it, do it. The labels are left over

Exactly this!

No offense was meant - just a question x

I think the majority of the people I know outside of fab are straight - but then they're sticking to the path that us non vanilla folk avoid!

But then maybe they're here too

My child has also been asked that

When she was asked her sexuality she said straight, so was asked if she fancied men but she said no women, but because she does not identify with being female she does not consider herself a lesbian, to her shes a male who fancies fancies females therefore is straight

I also realise im now going to get pulled up by somebody for referring to her as her

I very much believe it is a balance between nature and nurture. Certainly seems to be some genetic pre disposition in some people I know.

There's a very high proportion of me and my cousins on my fathers side who are all bisexual or slightly leaning towards lesbian. Think it's too many to say just a coincidence so think genetics are a part of it

That's just a good a case for environmental factors as genetics.

I think most of us experiment with members of the same sex during adolescence and then decide which way we are going to go. I went straight but my bi side was always there and I reverted back in my 50's. I am now enjoying a whole new side of m sexuality.

My first foot fetish experiences were with 2 of my classmates but it was with the one with whom we had regular fun in his bedroom all throughout our adolescence. After some years he got married (to a woman) and we lost track but I met by chance his father who confided to me that he knew all those years what we were doing with his son because he saw us sometimes and he never said anything to anyone because he also had the same fetish and he didn't want anyone else to know that his son inherited his sexual preferences for feet.

if that was the case, there wouldn't be any gay people left. They'd have died off years ago. Only Bi and Straight ones.

Have to agree with you there. I was 15 when I discovered to pleasures of a girls body and made my choice. Stayed that way until my 50s.
