well made the request, got a maybe, then deffo, then got thx dont need you, . does any one else get this treatment?

I wouldn't label it as 'treatment' (assuming you mean in a bad way). I would simply accept they had exercised their right to change their mind.

If someone says yes to meeting it is no cast iron guarantee they will keep their word.

although its not a cast iron guearantee i would say that getting a message saying 'we dont need you' means that the person was being strung along until a better offer came up and that dont sit right with me
