If I see any of these, I simply report them as spam - and get a warm fuzzy feeling.

Can I ask how many times that has happened to you? If it's a lot, then I suggest you change your search criteria or, the next time you get a request off someone for your kik name, try saying no thanks... that will reduce the amount considerably

OP and I are from the same city so I'll just enlighten the situation. We get like on average at least 3 or 4 fake profiles pretty much DAILY or 1-2 days' gap in between being set up here in Hull. Fake profiles that put up one or two stock photos, have a profile writeup that is so short they might as well have foregone it, have all the interests ticked, and immediately advertising for Kik addresses to be exchanged. Then inside of an hour they disappear, only to reappear with the EXACT same profile descriptions and parameters/minor changes a while later on.

It's not that we get caught out on fake profiles a lot, usually they're just blatantly in-your-face in terms of lack of authenticity. But it gets frustrating when you see the news feed for the area just flooded with such fake profiles popping in and out as though whoever made them has nothing better to do. Not sure why but Hull seems to get a lot of fake profile issues, both for male and female and couple profiles!

Lots here love to "take it on to KIK" because it's supposedly like Whatsapp but anonymous. And yeah I usually do go round reporting such profiles and I usually steer well clear of profiles that even hint at any preference to further contact via KIK.

Well Hull isn't exactly boring. More like the scene here is quite small compared to other areas around us so it's a small village mentality. Everyone knows everyone either way. Nice people here but not much variety.

I`ve been noticing a lot of suspicious profiles lately. There are lots of couples in cam chat that are always just the male, also new profiles with veris (sometimes more than one) within hours of joining. Thing is there could be genuine explanations for this and that is what makes it so hard to pick out the fake,s along with the fact there are a lot of crafty people out there that know the "tell tale" signs people look for and so know to avoid them when writing a profile.

My own opinion is that you should take everything with a pinch of salt. Until you find out for yourself you can never be sure and all you can do is employ your better judgement and be cautiously open minded. Just like real life

There are always timewasters, letdowns, fantasists etc in every aspect of life. Combine that with nervous newbies, people confused about their sexuality and also the cheaters it is never going to be straight forward finding a meet but again, this is no different to real life. Report the obvious ones, avoid the dubious ones and chat with the ones you like to make sure they are what you think.

What I mean by fake is when you ask for there Kik then they give you it you add them and ask for a pic they end up sending and naked one so I asked them to send my a face pic then they deleted Kik and then delete there fab profile so if you ask me that's a fake account "
I don't call that a fake account. I never use kik nor any app. Perhaps chat to people and exchange photos on here, then move up to chatting either on the phone or via skype or even the chat rooms.

It seems that a lot of people go out of their way to look for, or get suckered in by profiles which clearly offer more than they can deliver. And then come in here and moan that they've been suckered.

Boggles the mind.

Stop searching through status updates for KIK addresses. If that's the criteria you look for in a person, the swiftness with which you can get them off fab and onto live chat so you can exchange wank material, then you are setting yourself up for a fall. Plus you're encouraging them to do it because they're getting hits.

You are part of the problem.

Instead: Go to search. Use the advanced otions and filter out newbies, unverified, must be verified by meeting, no public pics.

You'll find you cut out most of the chaff that way.

We have come across quite a few the past 2 years, so what we do:

New profiles we will only exchange a couple of msgs before requesting a fem to fem phone call.

Get a cheap mobile phone and payg sim, offer the other party to call you and even withhold their number if they wish, no woman chat,then we leave it.

We have heard every bizarre excuse going as to why the fem, single or part of a couple can never manage a quick 2 minute chat, we could write a book lol

Many profile pics are fake, enter them in to Google images and search, if it's on the web, google will find it in seconds.

A profile that is a fem and been around for more than 3 months with no veris, is unlikely to meet and "could" be fake.

Anyone been on a year and not got a veri, don't waste your time trying, more so if they have a zillion friends.

We have used this site for about 9 years. Had numerous accounts and have met a lot of nice people.

However, times have changed and this is no different to Facebook now with ease of access. The number of couples has seriously reduced yet the number of single men has gone through the roof.

It's become a voyeurs site rather than a meet site now.

The site owners really need to address the change that's occurred

All good and well. But if you're going to do that and you're not going to get photo verified then nothing stops you getting verified on cam or at a club. And if you can't be bothered to do any of that then I certainly can't be bothered to meet you.

However, times have changed and this is no different to Facebook now with ease of access. The number of couples has seriously reduced yet the number of single men has gone through the roof.

It's become a voyeurs site rather than a meet site now.

The site owners really need to address the change that's occurred "

I got accused of being fake on Sunday. Funny thing was I'd just displayed a verification from sat night .

He on the other hand had been on the site over a year and never met anyone

Never seen a fake...plenty of people who would rather talk on Skype or kik as they then don't have to share my conversation as much but never anyone who has asked for money or just not turned up when they were supposed to. Liars however; loads of them. People should have to show their passport when saying their date of birth lol
