Rope play/Suspension

I'm an absolute novice, however, this is something I have a long standing interest in and I've decided to take some action..

Can anyone suggest where might be a good place to start and whether anyone teaches the basic knots, hints and tips?

I already have one very willing volunteer subject but you can never have too much practice...

TIA

Slough

Try searching "rope peer workshop" on a more specialist site occasionally mentioned here.

Contact owners of group for more information, tell them your a newbie.

Go and learn.

Suspension is something that takes skill and knowledge so perhaps keep your deire to do that under your hat initially, get the basic stuff sorted first.

The unit and I think the townhouse have rope days. The unit is closing in Jan though so you would need to see if anything planned before then. Not sure where else host peer rope in the NW. I imagine there will be something in Manc.

Suspension, well that's a whole different kettle of fish, only tried it once and wasn't what I expected. Paul the owner of Xtasia suspended me while showing hubby how to harness me up for it, just a fairly standard weave but getting the suspension point correct took a few tries (everyone is different). I understand Xtasia also do peer rope days so may be worth a journey.

I'd try suspension again but don't love it like I do being tied.

Not much to add other than what has been said already. Get along to a rope peer workshop is probably the best advice. There are plenty of friendly people there that will help out.

I learned most of my rope skills via videos, books, etc. I've been to a few rope workshops before... and study random things like mountain rescue texts for technical help.

Alas we don't have as much time as we'd like to practise, but we now know a few swinging clubs with suspension points and you'll normally find me suspending Vik at some point in the evening when we are out. Tried to do a fully inverted suspension this weekend (latest pic in our gallery).. didn't quite go as planned and needs some more work to be a bit more comfortable but was fun nonetheless.
