Possibly

Or maybe new 'swingers' have an awful attitude

So at what point over the 6 year period did it change?

"People with less time to indulge in pointless conversation? "

100%

I also find that if reply once it is like a invitation to have a conversation.

"So at what point over the 6 year period did it change?"

I'm going for 330 am this morning there was a shift in the time continuum at that exact moment. more changes will become apparent over the coming days weeks and months , what the op has detected is just the first tremor of things to come .

Disagree.

We're not new swingers but have adopted the attitude of not indulging in pointless conversation. We'll converse with people we'd like to or intend to actually meet via messaging.

That's not an 'awful attitude'. That's just being selective with whom we give our attention to.

The time did not change, and the people on this site remained the same but the OP just messaged a different type of people?

More people use the site, therefore get more messages so don't have time to reply to them all? Who knows? All I know is in the example you give, they are doing you a favour by not wasting your time chatting. I'd never take anything on here personally, its just strangers typing words on a screen.

If someone messages us we usually are polite in our reply by advising they aren't for us. To save having to go through the whole process again with the same person we just block

So you've been using the same opening message for six years with no success?

How strange.

Don't change anything, just keep plugging away fella

South West London / Surrey

We've never replied to 'Hi, how are you?' messages. Well, I'm fibbing, we did a few times when we were new, but soon learnt it was generally like pulling teeth.

We appreciate that sending a first message can be a tricky business. It's hard knowing what to write. We don't claim to be good at them, judging from our response rate. But, just a how are you is going to get ignored by the vast majority.

We try and pick something out from the profile to drum up a conversation. That's what we like in a first message.

Agree with others, nothing in that opening message shows you've read my profile. Apathy breeds apathy!

As previously mentioned

I was just giving an example of a polite introduction

Maybe you had a different avatar 6 years ago that was more enticing.

I never ever block anyone for sending a message, if it is polite and well constructed..and If, as is usually the case, they aren't my type I will say so but never in a blunt way...

and I almost always get a polite 'thanks for the response' message back..

IMO its nice to be nice

You seem to start variations of this thread quite often. No one us owed a reply and the expectation of one can come across as somewhat needy

glasgow

I have some sympathy, some women/couples say they are not here for lengthy chats others want withering heights novel engagement

I guess the best thing to do, for me at least is understand the desires of those you like, have things in common with and invest your time in that

Too many guys trying the scatter gun approach and getting frustrated. Unfortunately women and couples do have the pick of the crop so don't shoal with the rest

Stand out from the crowd and pick yourself some likeminded fabbers

What I am attempting to imply is that people here have become ignorant

It's changed from a community feel who gave mutual respect to quite the opposite

Needy???

Not at all

The scene has changed. A website with 1000s of members will never be a community like the scene was in the early days of the net.

It's not ignorant to not reply to someone you have no interest. 6 years ago the scene was easier, now mesaages that show so little effort will probably get people nowhere

The scene has moved on. Adapting to that rather than bemoaning is probably likely to serve you better
