Is it just me or do some people just not have good manners any more. And not just on fab either, real world too. Grr!

Some do, some don't.

I'll often hold a door open if I'm passing through if someone is nearby - sometimes you'll get a thank you, other times they'll just walk by and not even acknowledge the act.

Ditto when you let another driver out of a junction etc when you don't need to.

And in shops / restaurants "20 Lambert & Butler!" - I'm so tempted to say "what's the magic word" but it's not my place to as a mere customer.

A simple 'Please and thank you' isn't difficult is it? I'm glad my Mum taught me from an early age!

Absolutely, manners cost nothing as they say. But when they are missing from a social interaction it's very noticeable.

OP I think your concentrating on the negative aspects across hundrends of interactions - it's a well known human bias.

What I'm trying to say is that the vast majority of people you come across will treat you very politely and with good manners. It's only a small minority of people that treat you without good manners.

I have to agree with your proposition that some people just do not have good manners.

Recently noticed the number of people, male and female, that do not thank you for opening or holding the door for them......next one who does that may get the door slammed in their face

Couldn't agree more, politeness and good manners are very much the exception rather than the norm I'm afraid

I agree manners costs nothing goes a long way so many rude people on here who dont like the words no thank you on comment comes to mind delete your profile your clogging up the site

It definitely isn't just you who thinks this.

I was taught to hold a door open, offer my seat to the elderly ect ect but today you do these things and people look at you like you're an alien lol.

As a delivery driver yes it's my job to deliver things to people but it wouldn't kill them to say thanks once in a while.

Don't even get me started on kids these days lol

I would say this in my experience on here around 95 percent of couples are decent and around 70 percent of single ferns are decent .

as for the guys on her a can not say my guess would be around the same number as the single ferns but due to the numbers game it will look and feel worse that it actually is when your dealing with single guys .

The real world still has people with good manners, which sadly is decreasing. However, I've found that on sites like this manners are becoming a rare thing.

I notice poor manners normally in public such as holding doors, or letting someone past in a supermarket. To look at it from the other side, when saying excuse me in a supermarket to someone that may be blocking an aisle, they sometimes look at you as if you're being unreasonable for saying anything!
