Thanking rejection

So I just got a rejection message from someone (so be it) but it was really nice and thoughtful. I was so tempted to reply and thank them for it but thought "thanks for your no thanks" might be a bit strange!

Am I alone in this temptation?

I always send nice rejection messages as we aren't meeting at the moment. Lots of times we get a thanks.

I imagine not.

A thank you for a reply is polite, and as so many posts decry rudeness, it is apt.

I always thank people for their response, negative or otherwise. I think it's just polite and respectful to do so.

It's a difficult one as everyone is different. Some people don't want to be contacted again once they've said no, others are OK if you say a polite "thank you for letting me know, all the best on the site" or similar.

If you do choose to write back, keep it short and sweet and close out the conversation so there's no expectation for them to respond further.

The polite thing to do is to reply full stop. I treat others as I would like to be treated - it's not always the case but from my side I do.

I thank you for reading my post!

Ditto here.

Just don't take it badly if the mail just gets deleted without being read. As apparently the idiots here send abusive responses to a polite no thanks. So that person won't wish to read the abuse -understandably.

I've even met some of the people who i had a rejection of, at a later time at a club, and shared a drink and laugh. Some are friends now - not that we have played -just like each other.

All about manners

If someone is kind enough to say to me thank you but no thanks or whatever polite variation then I will always take the time to say thank you for letting me know and wish them well in their fabbing.

No harm in being polite and its not trying to force a conversation. Its just me using the manners I grew up with.

I get this temptation all the time. I often try and thank people for those kind of messages because so many people just don't bother to send the "no Thanks" type messages in the first place!

Once you get such a thoughtfully, politely sounding rejection message, leave it as that, don't get tempted into sending another message thanking them for rejecting you. Imagine you are in a club, and the lady/couple/male you fancy politely says no, just accept it, and move on.

I absolutely HATE thanks but no thanks responses - a deletion is absolutely fine and preferable!! Maybe I'm bit sad lol but when I get a response to my message - call me an optimistic nutter - but I actually think oh good there may be something good here!! And I think I've put please delete on my profile now! Being blocked for no apparent reason is lots of fun as well ha ha!

If I get a response, positive or negative I always reply just to end things properly. A lot of single guys on here get slated for being too pushy or aggressive and if a nice reply from me makes even one person think actually he was ok,Ive achieved my aim.
