"First rule of fab, never message anyone with a "code word"..." Why not?

"For those who request a word or phrase to be put in the subject field to indicate that the person mailing has read the entirety of your profile - does this work for you? These requests always stand out to me as a scan through profiles (esp. the long ones), and I think it is ironic - cos I've picked out the request, often put in CAPITALS so hard to miss, but I hadn't actually read the profile. In other cases, when I have read every single line with baited breath, I feel stupid putting in "bananas" or whatever has been requested as the subject. How does the inbox look with the same subject repeating?" Our inbox looks like quite a few people have read our profile. Doesn't mean that they've understood all the other words that it contains though which is why they get ignored/deleted and occasionally blocked.

So even if your profile has been read and the words you asked for usedyou just ignore and delete them anyway? Unbelievable!!! Makes it a bit pontless really.....

If that's the only thing they've picked up on from our profile then yes. Ours contains all the info that anyone needs to get in touch and take things further but when the heading is correct but the message is along the lines of... How are you finding the site? How are you? Can we meet in 20 mins? xxx ?x All the above are direct quotes from the last few scintillating messages we've received since yesterday and yes they do get ignored unless I'm in a funny mood then they either get a stupid or sarcastic reply. Those that do as we ask get a polite and personalised 'thanks but no thanks' type of reply if they're not for us. The others get a reply that always leaves an opening for a reply that could take things further and then it's up to them. Our profile is here so that people can read it and then choose to meet us as long as they're who we're looking for. If people choose to ignore what we write (apart from the code word) then why should we do anything different with the unsolicited mail that appears in our inbox?

Is that all some people can be bothered to write? I write based on profile etc....if I get lumped in with people like that then no wonder I get very little back!!

I'm not kicking single guys either as there are similar couples and females that do the same and being an 'equal opportunities'couple we don't treat them any differently. Unfortunately with so many more single guys behaving like that it does tend to skew our _iew somewhat.

"You're right OP. It's so easy to scan the secret magic word. I ask for folk to read my profile, most don't and that's obvious in how they approach. I'll never message anyone who demands one. Get off your pedestal " We don't demand one and we do reply to folks that don't use it but only when the message and profile interest us. We're all different and we all use Fab the way we want to...It works for us and that's all we care about. There's plenty of room on our pedestal for fellow Fabbers that see things the way we do.

So if you delete some messages which do include the code word, and respond to some which don't, depending on whether you like the message or not, what's the point in it?

"We might put "block and delete" as our code word/phrase, I wonder how many people will fall for it? Ess" ![]() "I have a paragraph stating if you've read so far yadda yadda phrase in the title & so on. But in the paragraph before hand if they have read the profile they'll have read to ignore using the phrase. Makes it easy to see who just skims for the phrase." ... but then you can only identify who's skim-read. Those who have read entirely or not at all fall in the same category, what's the use of that? heh!
