Is it possible for single people to be swingers, or are they just sex dating? In other words, should swinging always imply sharing?

It is whatever you believe it to be.

I think singles can be swingers. It's in the mind, not who you're with.

Personally I don't think that signing up to a website to seek people of the opposite sex to have 1 on 1 sex with makes someone a swinger. There's more to it than that, it's about attitude too although I'll be honest I can't articulate exactly what I mean by that, just that some people have it and some don't. And that (the attitude) isn;t just unique to singles

Agree but can't put it into words either.

According to Wikipedia

Swinging, also known as wife swapping or partner swapping, is a non-monogamous behavior in which both singles and partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with others as a recreational or social activity.[1]

Perhaps the clue as to whether singles are swingers or just Sex dating is whether they would continue the activity with their partner if they became one of a couple.

I know a lot say "no way". They are just sex dating

I wouldn't describe myself as a swinger, as I think that word traditionally applies to couples who swap.

However since swinging isn't exclusively about 4-sums (or couple parties), there's obviously a place here for singles as well.

As a single guy, I prefer to think of myself as a 'swing-enabler', providing additional warm bodyparts when required, for MFM etc

No idea how to define it, but excluding singles from the definition would just leave couple and people in poly relationships.

As some people have said, I feel that swinging is more an attitude that embodies fun, friendship and respect.
