Just wondering, does anyone else have a problem with the oh so common phrase in verifications "don't mess this one about"?

I'm not sure if it's the "this one" that gets to me (after all fab is an orgy (see what I did there) of objectification)) or the fact that it implies there are other people that it might be okay to mess about?

It's a strange thing the verifications when I was on here years ago I met someone who I really clicked with but we both left each other lukewarm re_iews! And then met every week for about 3 years. if you've found a real gem do you want others to find them?

I wrote one once where I sandwiched every fab cliché I could think of into a single veri for a laugh; I only wish I could remember it. I know I have a few trite phrases on mine because the person writing them knew they'd make me laugh. If someone chooses not to meet me as a result then I dodged a lack of humour bullet.

I haven't written cliches, mine are funny. People don't tend to display them though. I just don't think you need to go into all the ins and outs of what you did with a person, or tell me how I ought to behave. How does any of that tell me about the person? If someone was writing one for me and couldn't think of anything more original than "treat her with respect" I'd rather they didn't bother.

I agree with what you are saying, and I always try to write my verifications from true feelings about the meet but sometimes, just sometimes you might not be able to say anything other than "Yeah Great"..."Fucks like a Stallion". I'm kind of with this ^^^ (and agree with _aughty_amazon and Red Lipstick). Verifs probably started out as just being exactly that - verifying that a person is cool and is who they say they are. The subjective (and paradoxically objectifying) nonsense that gets written is much more about saying "hey I got laid, aren't I clever" than anything else. By all means write a story about it but that's not the same as a verification.
