Beard or no beard?

Evening fellow Fabbers,

I have only recently had my beard, since April.

Please, this isn't one of those look at me forum posts, it is a genuine census of opinions regarding whether beards are a plus, a minus or a not bothered either way.

I have always been of the opinion it looked a bit strange a shaved head with a full beard.....upside down head

When I grew it I was shocked with the positive feedback.....even my mum likes it lol Most people have said it suits me and that I should keep it. I suppose there is also an element of conditioning going on as well as I was Army for 22 years and wasn't permitted to grow a beard.

So, throwing myself to the wolves.....what do you think?

That is why I have kept it on and I suppose it has grown on me.....boom boom

You remind me of Seasick Steve! And he's awesome haha. Yeah it suits you.

I was always clean shaven until I decided to grow it out at the end of last year and prefer it personally now. Give it a trim now and then though

Op it does suit you but I have to echo the above it does age you as well.

I'm not hugely a fan of beards anyway, much prefer a little stubble, think they suit younger men but not older. I hate it when Paul grows his

My beard does age me once it gets beyond a certain length, especially since parts of it are going white now. When it's allowed to get unkempt it feels like it adds 10 years.

But for going out/meets I trim it down to a grade 2 length, just a little more than stubble and it gives the jawline some definition without overly aging me.

Had a few people on here say they won't meet bearded guys, even trimmed. That's their choice, but I won't be getting rid any time soon. And L, having only seen me clean shaven once, hated it, even though she's not ESPECIALLY into beards. Just doesn't suit me.

Oh I tell you, those beard pampering sessions should be on the NHS for stress relief. It was brilliant! I had the works, head shaved, hot towels, beard trimmed and shaved.....I had my eyes closed the whole time and almost nodded of lol

I'm not really bothered about how old it makes me look, I'm still able to do everything I did in my 20s. Actually in some respects I'm probably fitter and stronger now than I was then.

However, thank you for you comments, at least you were curtious

"Evening fellow Fabbers,

"

Love it!

No tattoos are just attention seeking.. 'I got them fur me' you can't see them on your back ! Tattoos are always about what you want people to think of you, I prefer to express myself with words and actions then the artwork of some stranger's hand.

I was liking this thread until the blasphemy, JD is certainly not a bourbon, it even says tennesee whiskey on the bottle. Bourbon is more about the grain used and partly about where its made, usually Kentucky.

On a side note, Captain Munros do an awesome Jim Beam Bourbon Beard Oil which smells great.

Legally, Jack Daniels qualifies as a bourbon but they deliberately distinguish themselves as a "Tennessee Whiskey" for marketing purposes. The only real difference other than where it is made (most bourbons are made in Kentucky) is the filtration process. JD uses charred maple. (Unknown source)

North West

I remember speaking to a Jack Daniels Rep at a Bar Show he claimed "the process" and the "the mash" don't qualify as bourbon.

He claimed that the corn content is kept just below the definition for bourbon and the filtering process is unique to tennesee whiskey. Their sub class is "sipping whiskey", and if you check JD website they explicitly say it's not a bourbon, I get the feeling they'd prob shoot you if you went to the distillery and said bourbon. They seem even worse than us bourbon drinkers for separation issues heh.
