Yeah, We get dead ended. I think it's a shame because surely if it happens often enough that will reflect on how you approach people in the first instance? Go into a convo expecting constantly to be ignored or blocked it will eventually start to be portrayed within your initial message..

Sometimes I look at the ladies "Why are rejected guys arseholes" threads from the other side, thinking well if you sent 30-50 messages over x weeks/months & they were read/unread - deleted how would it sit with you?

Send a face pic with your first message, saves unnecessary chat if there's no attraction.

Exactly. Yes, if they've been chatting they should let you know 'Sorry, I don't want to take this any further' - but you need to try not to take offence cos it's going to happen a LOT.

At what point is someone allowed to decide that they don't want to take the conversation forward without you taking offence?

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

I think we are all guilty of not responding to every single message that we could respond to, thus leaving people in the position the OP finds himself in. I guess this is part of life then?

Nobody can tell the OP that they are being oversensitive or not. However it's for the OP to ask himself whether it's healthy to get upset about the situation and what they can do to move on.

If I was the OP I'd try to forget it, and message the user back again in a few days asking what they thought of the pic.

No, he's just separating 'they decided no and didn't tell me' from 'I've taken offence'.

They are responsible for THEIR behaviour, but only you are responsible for your OWN emotional reaction.

Say they are wrong to go without a word if you like, just don't take offence.

So at what point MUST you give a reason for killing a conversation.

Loads of reasons why they might have done it but again nobody is obliged to do anything.

No your not to too sensitive.

I'd love everyone to fall at me feet with overwhelming feelings that they want to sexually please me. But they don't.

I'd love cleverly phrased replies that don't hurt my feelings when I say hello. But I don't get those.

Your not sensitive, your just unrealistic. Get used to it, not everyone buys me a drink in a pub, but those that do are my friends.

OP carry on being as sensitive as you like, it's not up to anyone else to tell you you're wrong for being a certain way. What you will find though is that te more sensitive a person is to that kind of thing, the less positive an experience they are likely to have on this site as unfortunately it can get a bit cut throat at times.

Personally if I'd been chatting to someone for a few days then all of a sudden they didn't reply I'd probably be slightly too, but would recover quickly and find my next victim hehe.

Oh and for the record, Im kinda disagreeing with TT's comment but still think he's great

Newcastle upon Tyne

There are several first message outcomes round these parts....

Random not even reading profile or short pointless message ignoring fact we both exist, even with pics...likely delete

More sensible message which involves at least reading profile, but ultimately not for us....a reply back wishing good luck and thanking for message

Good message involving reading profile and following up for good reason...likely response and chatting and keeping in mind for ongoing contact and maybe meet if we all get along

There's another category...the one which involves a message that is human and delightful, regardless of looking to meet, where we can chat and enjoy communication. These are messages where it's nice to converse with people through some shared wit or understanding. The people may live too far away, or not what either side are 'looking for', but it's nice to be in touch. I'm hoping you all know what I mean by that.

It does get to the point where a 'great pics' or a 'want to meet' or a slightly longer but still rudimentary message will be deleted though...

That's our tuppence worth right there

Good luck all

Ray

We'd swapped pics and vids, so she had seen my face and body, but when I suggested meeting she quickly said she doesn't usually go for slim guys so isn't sure. Then why was she sending me dirty messages and complimenting my pics?? Sure enough, after that she started ignoring me.
