Both are different. And serve different purposes. Rope looks pretty when done properly and can be used in different ways. Handcuffs are less versatile. I like chains also

True x Ropes win for me.. The time taken to tie is very arousing... Never tried chains though

I love the weight of them and the feeling of the cold steal against bare skin. The chain trick is very hot aswell

Love using ropes and pretty handy at Shabiri, have used a combination of both in the past, love using a heavy ish chain from a collar to an anal hook.

The feel of the cold metal running down the back.

its not the instrument of restraining or the act of restraining that's turn me on .

although a restrain women can look so sexy when you take a step back and admire your work and the view .

Neither for me, I much prefer leather cuffs. Not yet found anyone I trust enough to use them properly with at a meet but they are great for self bondage (remembering to include some sort of emergency release).

I love the look, smell and feel of the leather.

partial to any kind of restraint, its the restraint itself that's soothing for me. even just clicking on some cuffs, or my collar and i'm in altered state

i like ropework because of the time it takes and it feels all encompassing, but really it could be anything.
