Laser hair removal

Anyone had laser hair removal? Thinking of having it done, sick of waxing or shaving (usually get Mr D to shave me as he does a better job)

Mrs Weekend here and Yes, had laser hair removal and would definitely recommend it for anybody. This eliminates any shaving rash, ingrown hairs and unsightly spots and shaving rashes and irritated skin.

Use a reputable place..they should do a skin patch test to figure out what setting to use...also it depends on your hair colour as to wether it will work or not..also what medications you're on and any health problems.

It won't work on light or ginger hair..you are supposed to keep the area lasered from sunlight from then on..your skin may discolour as it will be more sensitive to sunlight..any sex hormone problems mean it is a maintenance treatment not a cure and it will come back. There is some discomfort involved but is short lived...there is a risk of skin burns.

You need to research places and find someone who REALLY knows their machine. Even two people in the same place will use it differently..ie the thickness of the gel they apply..how they hold the handset to your skin etc. Any redness around the hair follicle immediately after will subside..use cold flannel to cool it. Hair grows in 3 stages so vary the time between treatments to catch them in all stages.

I've had it done..it wasn't successful for me and my condition and I can't afford any more and NHS won't help me. I paid 300 for 6 goes.

Totally agree with what you've just said. The treatment I had was a total success and been totally hair free for over a year now, but it was a lot more than £300 for 6 treatments. I had eight sessions at £145 a session, so it's not cheap but I feel it was definitely worth it for myself as it's left me silky smooth.

Laser is ok BUT it will grow back - admittedly a bit softer, but electrolysis is the best way and it hurts much less!

I've had it done. It works. It's amazing. But, I wanted more so I got the home kits. They are fabulous and much cheaper in the long run. I got one from boots. It is permanent, but it's too painful. The best is the lumea. It's not permanent, but doesn't hurt a bit. I say it's not permanent, but once you've done the initial few weeks, you then only have to do it once every six months or year. So it's great. Whatever you do. Remember it only works on dark hair. If you are very blond or going grey, it won't touch it. So if you want it gone forever, then do it permanent, while it works.

I'm glad yours worked..the price also depends on the amount of area covered too.
