I can tell by looking at someone if they're my physical type. They can tell by looking at me whether or not I'm theirs. Once it gets past that, then you get into whether they're your personality type.

For some people it starts with the physical. For others it doesn't but it's still important. Regardless of the physical, a 'type' is an uneasily definable something but your gut normally tells you when there's something worth exploring or not. Not my type means that for whatever reason they're not feeling a potential compatibility.

I don't really have some type just people I'm either attracted to or not. the ones I'm not attracted to aren't for me...and im uninterested in getting to know their personality in this context...in the same way exactly that im equally not for some orher people...it's really that simple

Physical attraction is the one to get over, if you're not attractive 'to them' there's no going forward, I've got past that stage with girls and then when I've spoke to them, some have been A holes, so that's a no at that stage

The majority of people will not have sex with someone they don't find attractive

Think the most important thing is to not get upset, offended, or rejected. We won't fancy everyone, so we shouldn't be surprised when not everyone feels we're irresistible. Ellen is often seen as being very attractive, but I wouldn't expect to be every womans idea of perfection, but it's easy to keep perspective with a sense of humour and a not too serious approach to ourselves as people. This is supposed be fun after all!

We normally reply to people we're not interested in with "we feel we're not comoatible", sends a message but not so specific to be rude. As to be honest it can usually be for any reason we're not interested in someone, looks, interests, profile blah blah.

I do understand what the OP is saying, I assume he feels frusterated people arn't giving him a fair chance, since just because he might not be their type on first inspection does not mean there won't be chemistry once they have actually met him.

However - people recieve to many messages asking for meets already, and they use imediate gut feeling as one of the best personal filters they have to whittle down the number of people that they want to meet.

I beleve that this intial test which people perform, even though not perfect, is one of the best tests their is for them meeting those that will bring them the most fun.

Therefore although the OP is correct in thinking that he has missed out on opportunities, I find the people who he wanted to meet but turned him down after performing their own filtering test were right to do so, since he did not fit their intial criteria.

A frusterating situration, and I do have sympathy with the OP (after all I'm a single male lol ) I feel that we can't ask other people to meet us to give us all second chances in the flesh so to speak. If people want to meet let them meet the people who they most want to meet, rather than saddling them with also meeting people that at first glace they did not want to meet in the first place.

So, I do feel for the OP - I get why this thread exsits. I guess my only point of comfort for the OP is that he should be thankful that the people he wanted to meet should be courteous enough to reply back to him in the negative. In to many instances people just fail to respond rather than say, "no you're not my type". The OP should gracefully accept peoples negative responses and move on. I guess one of the main reasons why people on here don't have the courtesy of saying "your not my type" is people begin to question it.

I think the OP deserves a lot of credit though for starting this thread and getting this issue out in the open, rather then being one of the users who when turned down resort to abusing the people they wanted to meet. A good post by the OP

My friend told me I "wasn't her type" on our first (social) meet 5 years ago. However we kept in touch. A few months later we were at the same party in Worcester. She went with her FB (he is also now a friend of mine...but no longer of hers) and I went with someone else.

It is true that I have been sexually involved with men who are 'not my type', with whom I was it initially attracted to. But it takes time to develop an attraction in that situation. On Fab I don't have that time to find out if I would be attracted to them were I to get to know them.
