Here a question for your debate .

We are a sexual activity couple but when I tell them or Trish tells them she has MS all of a sudden they disappear ,we like to be open with people but they seem to get a mental picture ,what can we do to correct them?

You could try explaining on profile the effect the condition has on Trish. But personally if they dissapear then they are not worth meeting

We argue with you both and yes know their not worth the hassle but it just so annoying we chat and be open then we tell them and explain things to them they not intrested ,putting us both of swingging though as it been happening a lot of late xx

You only have two public photos, if you think they are building the wrong mental picture, then give them some more actual pictures to look at?

yes, be upfront

and ofcourse MS comes in many different ways sometimes very mild, sometimes speech effected and sometimes movement, effects many people differently and everyone still has a perfectly good brain attached, just sometimes the signals get distorted and nervous system effected.

They say there are more people with MS in Scotland due to lack of sunlight and low vit-D, MS is a common illness and nothing to be ashamed or concerned with

Do you have to tell them? Is she in a wheelchair? Or can you tell she has MS by looking at her?

My mum has MS and you wouldn't know she had it most of the time.

Why are you telling them? Does it effect how your wife can have sex? If it doesn't, it's noones business but yours. If it does, then you only need to explain that, not the whys and wherefores.

You right in what you say but had one meet where they turned up when they saw trish walking with sticks they said they not intrested and left so upsetting so we honest with others now and find it harder to meet others xx

I would want to know in advance what impact it would have on how me met or what we could do so that I didn't have an awkward situation like that.

I've no doubt the person you contacted felt a bit shit but didn't know how to ask that blunt, but important question.

Do be open and up front or be prepared for some people to not know how to approach the situation.

Maybe do as I do and have a photo of Trish with her sticks. You'll get the socially incompetent asking about them, but that in itself is a good filter. You could also explain in your profile that Trish had limited mobility but this in no way effects sex etc. Anyone who needs to know more isn't worth bothering with, most of the time it's just morbid curiosity anyway.

I agree.

If it doesn't impact what is going to happen it really isn't anyone's business.

My neighbour has MS and there are clearly good days and bad but if you guys play on the right days no one needs to be any wiser.

The right person will understand and be accommodating with your challenges...

I(Jack) have MS and you wouldnt notice if you saw me in the street or in a pub. It affects people in different ways. With me it is weakness in my left leg that makes some positions awkward but we have always mentioned it to people we have met or maybe meeting. Thankfully it hasnt put people off so far but saying that most of the people we have met have been socials.

Just be honest and its their loss if they decide not to meet you.

People are worried. They're worried they might hurt her, worried they will say or do the wrong thing, worried they won't know how to react, that something will go wrong and they won't know how to deal with it. It isn't their fault that they don't immediately know all the details of MS and how it affects your partner in particular.

It isn't fair but I think you need to either say nothing at all about it or as much as you think people need to know.

Ordinarily I would say it's nobody's business but since you think it's the reason people aren't meeting you I suppose you make it their business in a way.
