Wonder if admins have a view on this - one possible solution (though not foolproof) might be an "Alert an admin" button that appears on every profile, and if you're suspicious of any aspect of it, hit the button, select a 'reason' from a pulldown (or insert text?) and send it off for the nice people at Fab to review and act on if they agree there's summat fishy.. Even with some of the verifications being false I still reckon you get better odds targeting verified members, so it makes sense to be wary of unverified people.... That said, everyone has to start off as unverified... and in fact met someone who wasn't verified and had a great time. Must have been an element of luck to that, but am starting to get that vibe now when I chat to people and think I am starting to be able to tell if someone genuinely wants to meet. I don't really tend to take much notice of photo verifications if I'm honest... | |||

In terms of being able to tell if it is a fake verification, well you can't, but as someone mentioned earlier... if they have a few from different people and those people are also have decent profiles and are fairly well verified then you stand quite a good chance don't you think? At the end of the day though, whether they are well verified or not, they still have to want to meet you. | |||

As for photos with white paper lol. I had a sometimes play with Photoshop and in half an hour you can do all sorts. After all we have all seen cleleb heads on porn body's. Yes, but you could argue that you don't know who is checking the pictures and whether they are getting it right... It's just down to judgement, and if they have verifications it is down to you to decide whether you trust those verifications or not. | |||

When the site owners took over this site they saw the photo verify option as a way of wheedling out fakers and thats why we verified ourselves with it, to support what we thought was a good idea seeing as so many people were complaining about fakes I must be very naive to think that there are people that would go to the troouble of doctoring pics to make themselves look genuine

Should have the option for verifications to still be anonymous but know which type of verification it is. | |||

I have hidden ours out of respect and privacy for those we have met,I have verified others from meets and don't mind what they do with them,if they choose to hide them or show them im not offended either way its personal choice,I have had them on show but decided to hide them......another reason is this....who we meet really has nothing to do with anyone else on this site and believe me when I tell you that there are people that trawl through peoples friends lists and verifications for very strange reasons

"Go to My Account Manage Verifications and each verification should have a 'delete' link," Thanks have tried looking there just has an option to remove or display on profile. We have hidden it but o still shows that we have a verified profile which I take is different from photo verification. Never mind just shows no verification system is 100% | |||

Tried to write an explanation but got quite jumbled so now re-written it using you and myself as an example: Say I met you at a social and got chatting, I then verify you as genuine on here. You might (i stress MIGHT as this is an example) take a peak at my profile and see who else I had met (no problems there so far). If you then decided you wanted to meet one of those people yourself you would likely messages them, but say they then ignored you... you end up asking me to speak to them to see if they will meet you, possibly go as far as annoying me about it. This has been known to happen, and so people hide their verifications to avoid this. Also, people can get jealous when someone they have met and liked is off meeting lots of other people while they are getting nowhere... I'm sure they may be other reasons, but just some examples. | |||

All good reasons. Ok strike that comment. I can see now how the system that is used to show u are genuine can be abused. I suppose its cos I aint the jealous type, that I didn`t even see how that sort of situation could crop up.
As for asking someone else to contact someone who had blocked me, I can see how some people might do that but unless its life or death (and on this site thats highly unlikely) there is no point imho.
