Many threads are repeated over and over so what are the ingredients for a good theread?

I try not to criticise thread topics (not always successfully) because I only ever start one's asking for boring advice.

Ones that are informative, amusing, keep polite and keep to the point.

Also, some interaction rather than endless favourite films,songs, etc..
