I planted too many so just threw out the seedlings prior to transplanting. Am I going to hell?

"Mind im doing well with my parsley and basil "

I wrote in another thread that my parsley had sprouted really well which indicates a good summer. Its notoriously bad to germinate. Onions and garlic have 2 inch green shoots on them already. I have brooding chucks sitting on clutches and hope I have yellow chicks for easter - its so exciting at this time of year. Its a new cock and Im so glad he isnt gay. I haven't named him yet any suggestions? He can't be 'the new cock' for much longer it will make him conceited. He has a look of Bob Monkhouse if that helps.

Nice to hear you have a new cock, lucky cow lol, especially a Bob Monkhouse type of cock. I cannot grow anything, not even pubic hair, it doesnt grow over my caesarean scar, not that I attempt to try of course. I think you should call the cock Montague

I have to call for him remember and Montague would get shortened. Id get lynched if I called Monty most of my fellow allotmenters still remember the war.....

I bet I could make you some pubes out of cress. You'd have to lie there for three days being waited on hand and foot - does that appeal?

Ah but is it really dead? go to as near the root as you can and scrape a little of the brown off various stems - if its still green underneath and smells rosemaryish, then it will come back. Its really rare for established woody plants like rosemary to cop it in British weather. It may be lacking moisture. Cut it back and water well. If its black then bin it. Same for lavender.

Do you want a cress bush too? Pak choi is easy peasy and prolific and hardy... I dont usually have time to do bedding plants but have made a start this year - I might be crying by May if I've chosen badly. I did some amazing borlotti beans last year. Theyre so beautiful to look at when you shell them but turn very ordinary on cooking. I make loads of herb butters and freeze them - have you tried that?

On an entirely different subject - I tried your fondant potato recipe - and yes it was nice but a lot of effort for what was essentially a roastie and it didnt get the praise I was hoping for. I loved how the stock just evaporated leaving all the fat to saute it but I couldn't leave it for five minutes... was like making a risotto!

Butter is not the enemy encompass it... make little sausages of butter filled with chopped dill, chives or parsley and garlic wrap them in cling film and harden up again in fridge then cut into slices and layer in little boxes in freezer. Take them out to add to cooked veg or onto steamed fish parcels or garlic bread... also excellent for parsley sauces or a pat of it for steaks...

"There's a joke about dill in there somewhere...."

"You dill!" is about the only really bad swearword (short for dildo here) we could call siblings while squabbling without our mother latching on - she started using it at one time much to our amusement.
