Dowry

So in 18th century times a women would have a dowry to encourage a man to marry her and of course she would be a virgin. Forget the marriage bit. No virgins here

How much would you value your dowry at and how much would you pay?

The dowry was paid by the woman's family to marry her off. So a lot of loveless marriages happened for bloodline and status.
