if you descibed it to someone who'd never heard of it, its utter lunacy is clear 'oh i went to a special shop, i paid them £50 and they painted me brown...it will wash off soon, then i'll go and pay them another £50 to paint me brown again'..madness!

When my summer tan wears off I wear a light tan from Dove! Costs under a fiver and lasts over a month, stops me looking so pale that people ask if I'm ill - and a lot safer than using a sunbed all year!

We call fake tanners MUD MONSTERS

The worst is when they take a bath and leave a ring or when u get out of bed and it looks like u killed a orange Pokemon so not cool people

There are some who wear it well and don't over do it and it can look good.

I'm not one of those people, I prefer my milky skin. Less maintenance.

If you know how to apply a good quality fake tan properly it looks great! Why take the risk with sunbeds or hours sweating in the sun when you can look golden brown for under £20?

I'm always tanned but never orange

WTF is wrong with the colour you are, sorry but we think the look is hideous and more likely to make a pretty woman look like a tranny we refer to it as the tranny look.

I've never used it, mainly as I have a teenage daughter who does and I hate the smell, and the mess it leaves on her bedding/clothes and in the bath.

Oh and as for being fake, I have bumps in places I don't want and no boobs so I'm imperfectly real x

Saw an otherwise good looking woman last week whose skin tone looked more like a Jaffa orange than human. It wasn't helped by the fact that she was wearing white clothing to really set it off

I wondered if the fake tan can react differently to some individuals skin? Surely people have mirrors? Why would you go out looking as if you'd been Tango'd - or get it topped up again. It really isn't a good look

Maybe so, but it's true and our opinion is one mirrored by the majority, we'd rather be blunt than full of baloney, as the OP implies 'satsuma' is not a good look.

We like white skin and brown skin, but not painted gunk orange. We feel the same about fake lashes, fake boobs, fake nails and would steer clear of those sporting them. This is going to rile some people but we find a lot of people who use all this are a bit fake underneath.

Just be what you are xx

My friend sprays me a light shade of brown for £15 in her tanning tent.

Is it a reaction with some people's skin tone that makes it go orange? Can't imagine you or anyone would go out to get the orange look

I love fake tan. I am fair skinned so I don't ever have a very dark tan but I do like to have a bit of colour in summer and it does look nice with summer clothes on. I would much rather have a fake tan than sit in the sun for hour's.

I don't buy cheap fake tan because it has an awful chemical smell and streaks and the colour isn't usually great. Always pay for a good quality tan and ensure you apply to correctly and don't rush.

My tans of choice are Vita Liberata, Fake Bake and St Tropez and the average cost is about £30 a bottle. I've never had a spray tan but I might try it

I know this may be controversial but what has it got to do with anyone else!

If something brings another human being happiness without harming another, it is no one else's business!

Do people who get a tan abroad get called fake.

Are people fake for going to the gym and paying money to change shape.

What about the use of bras not only for support but that accentuate or lift. How about corsets, high heel shoes, or men using viagra.

How about how 'keeping it real' stops people improving themselves and keeps kids back at school.

Not to forget all the scientific inventions or improvements criticised as not being fitting and against natural human nature. Such as contraception that meddles with natural cycles or condoms that prevent 'natural' conception. No one would be fake by using those you all keep it natural and real.
