Hi, bad choice of night I know! I'm there on Sun 7 Aug, never been before, just wanna know decent bars for a drink? I do love a bit of live music! Any advice appreciated. X

Depends on kind of music you like and kind of pubs you like!

Cumberland Arms, Byker (1 mile from city centre is good!)..... Load of locals in backroom just having a great jam session and a laugh, really friendly...great real ales and cider..... I miss my local

Newbies always love it! Relaxed, friendly and a mass d*unken sing-a-long....with lots of half songs (i.e. what the f... comes next!)...go there and you will join in rather than watch!
