doesn't help that most clinics are set up for the under 25s, they are in my area anyway - all the easy to get to clinics. i've got a 3 bus journey that takes hours to get to for my nearest age appropriate one.

Clacton on sea, Essex

We have had regular tests with written proof e.g. certs every 28 days for the last 14-16 years, Paddington is the one in London mainly used by older swingers & industry folk as they feel more at ease not sitting with youngsters.

Our local GUM clinic in Clacton as a mixture of all ages so we use this rather than the one in Colchester which is full of students.

Friendly local GUM clinic takes appointments, so you have hardly arrived and you are in for check - so can't really say...

OP - maybe it's a skewed observation, because swingers who do regular health screens flow through the system quickly and almost unseen???

Doesn't bother us what age the other customers are......the GUM clininc is a service we wouldn't want to be without - our local clinic is on my way to work and is open 8.45-6pm 4 days per week - we have noticed more older people tend go first or last thing ...

Cuts and services are farmed out now. Virgin do a lot of the clinics in Manchester and they work them on a business model rather than a public health model.

We go to the local GUM on a regular basis and even though there seems to be lots of younger people there it doesn't matter to us at all that we are a bit older than the norm.

They know us both there and know that we are swingers as we told them some time ago and its on our notes, Does seem a bit funny still when they ask how many sexual partners have you had apart from each other since the last visit.

Better to be totally honest with them xx

Most GUM clinics will do an outreach service. There is a team of two at City Celts every Wednesday morning for example so it may be worth asking your local if they provide it.

Do they still go to Chams?

Maybe it's because there are proportionately fewer people in the older age groups who have multiple partners. Having said that SITs are on the increase in the over 50s because they think they're safe.

was once in a club on a couples night. We were in a room and a group of couples came in and started playing.. all late 40s onwards...

We ( was with my partner) realised that not one of them was using condoms... so we declined to join in but assumed they all knew each other... was shocked later on to find out they had all just met.... so we can see why this maybe the case x

I think most people think they are safe. Even the ones that don't use condoms.

Only gay people are at risk.

I'm the only person in my town that has sex. Every time I've been to the clinic I've been the only one there.

im not concerned by the ages present at the clinic, what over the last 18 months i have learnt though is that those working at the gum clinic have no idea about the lifestyle at all..each time ive been ive seen someone new and each time although its on my notes i am on the bdsm and the swinger scene, they ask things like is money involved in that..or they say, im educating them as they've never heard of polyamory or clubs ..i find that more alarming being quite honest, when i have to actually demand swabs etc, because i place myself in 'high risk' if i didnt not sure id get offered the full works...makes me wonder what training /education they actually have..

The one i go to in southampton used to be quite good if you got there as soon as they opened at 8.30 then you didnt have to wait so long even though there were quite a few people there only last time i went it had all changed, not so nice i waited for hours and nobody said why that was i felt like they had forgoten i was there and other people who came in after me were going in before me.

It used to be that if you made an apointment you would have to go in the afternoon which wasnt convenient for me and it was busier then and you still had to wait quite a while before you seen someone.

Prince harry was on the news having an aids test saying that a lot of people dont even know they have got it but they dont exactly encourage people to go and get tested from what i can see.

Unlike breast screening and smear tests.

My local clinic is a visiting one, comes to the local hospital twice a month. Only under 26 can use the walk-in service so I imagine that age group must be seen as some sort of priority. I make appointments and I am in and out fairly quickly. I have never even seen anyone else in the waiting area. Don't think I would use a walk-in service anyway, I live in a small very close-minded town (we have 23 churches!) and people talk. A lot. Among swingers, using the gum clinic is seen as responsible and sensible. For the older non-swingers in my town, being seen at the gum clinic means you are obviously a sex-obsessed whore....

Youngsters are usually high risk as they have not had the sexual education most 40+ people had.

When we were young there were AIDS adverts everywhere then the HEP C ads & so on, now with cutbacks & becoming as PC as we are sexual education as taken a back seat.

From previous conversations/threads, it always seems to me that the ones least likely to go are the ones who think using a condom makes them bullet proof...scarily there are more than a few out there that think there's such a thing as safe sex rather than safer. These are often the same people that assume no symptoms means no problems.

Can't say I've really paid much attention to the age range of the others in the waiting room, but I have noticed more of the clinics are moving to under 25's. Fortunately my local clinic in Leigh cater to all ages and have evening appointments, and they don't bat an eyelid at my lifestyle...although they do sometimes ask questions because they know I'm happy to be open with them about it. Think it would make sense for a lot to have a younger demographic as family planning will also come into it and I would think that generally it would be younger people looking to use that service.

I had to take a pregnancy test when I was eight months pregnant and changed health care insurers in the USA. Apparently without a positive test I couldn't access the services. That was 18 years ago so maybe things have changed a little.

I also learnt that ad a swinger we can get Hep b vaccine for free as we are of a higher risk.

The clinic I go to is combined family planning and sexual health, with both booked appointments and walk-ins.

Always busy with a wide mix of ages, and I've never had to wait more than 30 mins. Can't say I've ever scrutinised who's there as there's normally Homes Under the Hammer on a loop so everyone's engrossed in that.

I'm not sure why people would feel uncomfortable in a non-judgemental environment where everyone is looking after their sexual health? Just another day at the doctors

I'm sure I read somewhere that the majority of chlamydia positive cases were in the under 25s hence why they target them with free testing

If the majority of positives are in those age groups that may explain the age appearance of the waiting room?

"We go every 6-8 weeks, but one thing we do notice is the very few people over 35ish and never anyone over 45ish is this just a London thing?

Or do older people just not care ?"

I'm the oldest swinger in the clinic. In Loughborough anyway.

"doesn't help that most clinics are set up for the under 25s, they are in my area anyway - all the easy to get to clinics. i've got a 3 bus journey that takes hours to get to for my nearest age appropriate one.

I go to RPI Preston every 3 months Hun! Friendly and non judgemental!

Don't mind picking you up and taking you when I go? Xx"

What a really nice offer - well done

I was offered and accepted this last year- it is also offered to first aiders by some organisations.

I always book an appointment, I haven't got hours to waste sitting around at the drop in as I have a job. Did that once, won't bother again. Did notice that there were lots of youngsters there. When I'm in for an appointment there are only a couple of other people waiting and they have varied a lot in age.

"The one i go to in southampton used to be quite good if you got there as soon as they opened at 8.30 then you didnt have to wait so long even though there were quite a few people there only last time i went it had all changed, not so nice i waited for hours and nobody said why that was i felt like they had forgoten i was there and other people who came in after me were going in before me.

Unlike breast screening and smear tests."

If you've no symptoms and just want the standard tests you can get an appointment on Saturday morning. That's what we do. Very friendly and non judgemental and no queue.

Brighton - even Hove!

"I went in March 2016 and the place was chock full of people of all ages. I was trying to catch the eye of a lady but she ignored me.

Trying to pull at the GUM, I tip my hat to you sir! "

I was hoping she would get the all clear

Anyway, my chat up line could have been "are you std free?"

"Most GUM clinics will do an outreach service. There is a team of two at City Celts every Wednesday morning for example so it may be worth asking your local if they provide it.

Do they still go to Chams?"

They go to the Greenhouse which is just down the road. I think they still go to Chams as well

"The nurse who saw me today said that next time I could wait in one of the private rooms if I felt uncomfortable sitting in a waiting room full of teen and twentysomethings ...actually I didn't mind it and the time flew by

He said rubbing his cock

I was merely adjusting the contents of my pockets "

Test result text has just come through - Negative

I use the appointment system and have only ever seen one or two other people there.

The scariest part of it is that I once had to wait and I saw the Jeremy Kyle show for 10 minutes
