How did people put the word out that they were into swinging before the internet. We've all heard the car keys in a bowl stories but how do you approach someone face to face the uou either dont know or barely know and ask them if they'd like to join you?

Its amazing how you can pick up the signs though, Mrs yorkshire went out with a group of friends once and later that night I started getting messages telling me a friend of ours is a swinger too and they just been chatting and slowly worked it out now they go out and make jokes about things being fab trying to see if anyone else somes out of the wood work

West Midlands

there used to be the contact magazines where letters would be exchanged via PO boxes as the intermediary! No idea when they died out but the net surely killed them

There's was a paper in London called loot it had pagers of swingers...... You had to call a premium number to leave a message

People didn't time waste and swapped numbers straight away

The way R and her ex used was through Forum magazine, which had swinger adverts, you sent off letters to box numbers and the magazine forwarded them. Long drawn out but it worked.

Contact magazines

Was a pain in the arse though, you had to write letters and send photographs and wait for a reply, then send another letter with phone number on, bit dodgy as hardly anybody had mobile phones, them wait for a call

Each call took ages to arrange

Two sorts of contact magazine when I was a late teen/early twenties swinger. I think produced by Swan Publications (I have a faint memory of the logo). The above poster is right; they would act as a go between for your mail; but later on personal phone number's were on there too!!

Then the "industry" got hold of it and it went behind the £1 a minute 0898 brigade. The magazines were booklet sized, mainly b/w pictures and had rough 20-30 swingers in each region.... however they were all genuine.. (or at least the ones I met

The contact magazines were a pain but 90% of people were genuine. My two favourites were Rendezvous Oasis. Rendezvous was very good and i met some couples through it. Then when it moved to premuim rate mumbers that still worked fairly well. Met a really sexy couple a few times through one of those.

My claim to fame is that i once called a premium rate sex line. We chatted and i got her worked up to the point i ended up driving up there and fucking her after her shift. She wasn't a granny doing her knitting but not a stunner either. Got to be rare that one!

The problem with the net is that lots of people join sites with "disposable" email addresses. They have a chat, get close to sorting something then get cold feet and delete their account. You see it happen loads. Plus a vast array of sites are blatent scams or loaded with pictures of "Dawn" from just down the road apparently begging for cock. Strange that Dawn's pictures are from a 1985 porn mag, proessionally shot on a beach in Brazil, she looks 25 in her picture and still seems to be 25 in 2016!

"Who remembers adverts in the loot ?"

Back in the day I used Loot. Put up an add, got a PO box number, then received lots of replies. Not so much different to now , apart from it was a long drawn out process. Received lots of crap, handwritten letters with poloroid hairy cock pics. Met a few decent couples tho.
