I am new to this forum Marlarky and have on the whole really enjoyed reading and offering the odd comment, but what I have noticed is how quick they turn into slanging matches or insults at one another. I do think texts can be perceived in the wrong way they are taken and received.

It's good to get different perspectives and other _iews but see no need for the aggression.

Just a new observers opinion

Yes I get what you mean, without the tone of voice it can be perceived as a personal attack on someone.

I don't take it too seriously an love the banter

I have noticed the same thing. A totally innocent remark can get your head ripped off. A small percentage constantly take offence. Thankfully the majority don't. Just avoid politics and bareback as topics and you should be fine lol

And welcome by the way

Its not just this forum.

If you go on any forum, whether its a car forum or whatever else your into, they're all the same.

Things can get taken out of context somes and some one will take it the wrong way

Forums attract people from all walks of life and as such you're bound to get different personalities that clash. It's best to rise above it all if you have someone you clash with as you're never likely to meet them anyway.

There are also a lot of people who spend all their time on sites like this and Facebook and then _iew them as real life, again, it's just a different outlook on things.

I seem to be in thick of it a lot lately, I don't try to cause arguments it seems having a brutally honest opinion on things at times isn't the way to go people offended so easily. It's surprising when we are all meant to like minded liberal people but I guess it's just the way it is.

You will get a mix of threads from all walks of life on Fab, genuine requests for advice to constant moaning about other members.......

Most will influence ZERO change as either the people posting the threads will not be self aware enough to know the issues they have is because of them, or the advice given is taken on board.

People use the forums, and people perceive things differently.

I've made what I thought were humorous comments on a thread and some people have thought it was funny and had banter back, others thought I was the next antichrist.

Have fun with those who like fun, don't worry about the terminally offended and it goes fine on here

I responded to a similar thread last year and this is a general comment.

Using language already used in this thread my _iew is that honesty is not a problem, it is the brutal part. Courtesy is the oil which prevents the machinery of disagreement sticking. There are ways and means of saying things. English is a rich and nuanced language its full range should be used.

It's evil, funny, abuse like that that makes me think about logging out in disgust...one more cross word and I'll just... be so mad!

There's disagreeing with someone & then there's being downright rude, the latter is unacceptable but goes on a lot.

I think I'm pretty level headed & fair so makes my chuckle when I get blocked as a result of a forum post, if they block me they must have a long ole block list
