Well that's how I see the difference. It's not JUST sex.. It's about getting to know people, making connections, friends and not one off fucks!! Who then disappear. Which I know inevitably happens, but i think 'swinging' is more about the social side too

Totally agree with other posters who say they wouldn't go on a social if they didn't fancy the prospective person .

Being a single woman I have to be careful so I always meet in a public place for a drink, chat etc but always with the expectation to play if we got on

It's BOTH. Not just sex, but no-strings friendships and social connections too. Like-minded people who like to enjoy themselves without commitment, yet who know they can 'get it on' and express themselves sexually and get exactly the sexual fun they're looking for with a play partner who isn't going to judge them.

Good point.If you're single and just enjoy sex with lots of different people, aren't you just that?? Must admit I've often questioned this aspect of it. I kind of thought that swinging was people (in a relationship or marriage) who wanted to expand their experiences together with like-minded people. I'm not having a go at anyone, I just find it confusing sometimes. I think it probably is more of a sex site than a genuine swinging site. Certainly seems to be full of singles just looking for sex. Then again, we meet single guys occasionally so we are sustaining that side of it. I suppose the difference is, because we are a couple, we see ourselves as swinging, even if our potential new playmates are just "putting themselves about a bit". Well, I did say I was confused! And before anyone takes offence - I'm not trying to upset anyone, just sort of thinking and pondering really!

i feel swinging is an adequate term, but maybe the umbrella of activity under it, has changed and therefore peoples perception of a site that uses that terminology, can be different. i love the diversity, the social, the nsa, the couples the 'swingles' the combined BDSM play. its more inclusive now than couples meeting couples or wife swapping..its expanded and i agree there is room for everyone.. new interrelations and sexual experiences isnt just for one sub section in society..and neither should it be confined to such..imo x

We tend to see it as dating for three people: me, hubby, and lover. Can't go on a dating site for that, so had to be a swingers site. But the sex is pretty well guatenteed if we get as far as agreeing to meet someone - that's we are swingers.

To be honest I always meet for a drink and a chat first but more because I want to make sure they look like their pics before I commit myself to a shag than because I think they may kill me

My decision.

Ive made friends with people i have met and never been in a dangerous situation. And yes i was on here before for 2 years. Maybe im lucky . but i would at just as much "risk" taking home some geezer from a night club.

I think everybody agrees that this websites can be used as people wish for the purposes of either NSA or unconventional sex. However, why is it that women looking for such fun are often accused of treating me this site like a dating site? Going on a date followed by NSA sex is very hard to find on a regular dating site where people are looking for relationships and exclusivity - I've been there! Fab is ideal for those that want to combine NSA sex and dating, and I don't understand why it's so frowned upon.

As someone who has been swinging since the early 70s I fail to see the difference between the two.

There has never been any requirement to socialise even in the days of houseparties and keys in the bowl it was simply a way of meeting for sex.

Some of the best times I've had on here is going to Jaydees at their sing and swing nights. It's basically a karaoke where everyone gets on has a laugh and it's really fun. Would that dynamic occur at a vanilla karaoke night? I don't think it would. It occurs there because everyone is like minded and bound by a sexual etiquette where no means no etc.
