only in people who have slightly lost touch with reality or have very little experience. Most of us watched Mary Poppins as children but not many of us believed that small nannys floated away on umbrellas

I think only the really dim witted would think porn reflects reality. Some people may want to try out what they see in porn, myself included.

For me it was Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent that spoilt it for me.

I was told by a friend about a meeting with a younger guy, he thought he was a crap shag and couldn't maintain an erection because, I quote, 'she didn't scream like a porn star'.

I suppose it depends on the individual and how well sexually educated they are.

People with little sexual experience and or poor sex education and those who are of lower intelligence may be more likely to be influenced by porn in a negative way.

But porn isn't in itself mysogynistic (did I spell it right?) There is plenty of porn where the women take control of things.

Mainstream professional porn, yes without a doubt.

Some of the amateur stuff out there and fetish porn made by people who really enjoy what they are doing is much better.

Porn certainly promotes 'themes' such as the obsession with gushing/squirting, milf/cougar play, spitting on cocks/foo foo's and everyone being totally hairless. Tho fashions change so god knows what the next trends will be.

Some people genuinely enjoy the sec portrayed in mainstream porn

But in my experience most ladies prefer more respect, and that includes porn actresses.

It's complicated! I don't go for a simplistic answer. I think porn in which there is any semblance of aggression is a bad model for the impressionable. The best porn is where the girl clearly loves what's being done to her and no acting ability is required! I'm beginning to hate the muscular american porn with the girls in camera-helping poses, stupidly over-dramatic facial expressions, fake orgasms - male and female! It's hilarious when a guy does a crempie, keeps it right at the entrance of her fru-fru and the camera zooms in and there's absolutely nothing there!

So screw the stupid overacted posed stuff with oiled up crap. Give me a decent couple who can't wait to make each other cum in a crap location and a crap cameraman! That'll be worth watching and the girl will not have her dignity compromised - she's in the driving seat and putting the sensual in back in the consensual!

And that will get a big salute from my cock too!

Misogynist attitudes stem from patriarchy and taking away womens rights.

I doubt anyone becomes disrespectful of women because of pron because you can search for femdoms (the opposite of misogyny imo), or anything you would be interested in.

Misogynists are encouraged to be that way, whether by peers, family or anyone in society. They already hold those ideas but as they enforced it encourages them to continue being so.

Surely misogyny isn't a trait inherent from birth?

i don't think any traits are from birth, i do think they come about from experience/nurture, although nobody knows for certain.

but if porn (or anything else for that matter) enforces someones ideals of misogyny then it backs up that their way of thinking is right. gonna go look for that bj topic to get the context of what you're on about as well.

Porn gives us ideas of possibilities . It sets our minds racing. It not actually like its portrayed in their films. It's more anamalistic and shorter burst. They are actor, actresses. Implementing a feeling, a situation, acting out what the _iewer want to see and hear. Strangely most have perfect bodies. Now everyone on fab don't have perfect bodies. Neither do the population.

Fabulous, this kind of American porn used to make me laugh, I'd watch for the really bad over acting, but in terms of excitement... Forget it. It is so disinteresting to watch, sorry this is going to sound so bad but...I wonder if this is how Americans really have sex (when not being filmed)

Depends on the person. When I first started watching porn, I've only watched solo's (for like half a year). Then I started watching girl on girl and finally boy girl.

Now I tend to watch passion or masseuse sex rather than gangbangs etc. And still mainly girl on girl.

It still probably influenced me a little on how I _iew sex, but I don't use it as guideline.

No. Porn is for adults not children. Adults should fully understand the difference between acting and reality, fact and fantasy. Porn can only be said to be responsible if _iewed by irresponsible or immature or easily led people (Ie children). Porn should not be ones introduction to sex it should be something a sexually mature person uses to spice up their love life or compensate for temporary lack of.

Porn alone cannot be blamed in the same way that action or horror films cannot be blamed for violence. They are restricted to a specific audience for good reason.

I guess over time our attitudes change in mind with our reality experiences. For me was I was lucky to have a couple of relationships where we developed our understand of what works for each through _iewing porn. Now its more of a recreational means for arousal when I'm playing "Han Solo"!

I guess that's why we are a bit different .

It's interesting reading this thread , and seeing that virtually everyone thinks it's a bad thing if people watch porn and expect meets to mirror it .

So many things we do together , and on meets , deliberately mirror stuff we've watched . From sabrinas look , her eyes , the way she sucks cock , certain positions , and things we do .

Obviously not all , and in many cases none of our inspiration comes from it . But lots does . We would have never engaged in water sports had we not seen it . Nor group stuff , bukkake , dogging , and so on .

So drawing ideas and new kinks from porn is a good thing as far as we are concerned

Yes this is why for the right audience porn is perfectly healthy as it . The problem arises when kids grow up learning about sex from porn as some can come to EXPECT certain things (guaranteed anal, rough sex, spanking, instant orgasms etc) from every woman every time.

Also regarding body image you could argue that porn depicts and desires a wide range of body shapes whereas mainstream media frequently Puts just the slim on a pedestal and goes to lengths such as airbrushing to create a body image which is almost beyond achievable

I do believe that porn itself is very mysogenistic, at its very core mainstream porn is about the use of women as sexual objects and their control/ manipulation. It's intended for and directed at men and I think it's very pervasive in its influence.

As a model for younger minds it can be very destructive and at the least it leads to unrealistic ideas of how sex is performed and what is expected. As with anything, if something is the primary influence of a developing mind it becomes the norm and the expectation no matter how unrealistic or ridiculous

That's like saying that films about WW2 'teach' younger minds that violence is the way to solve disputes!!

Did you believe dinosaurs were real after Jurassic park...

Do you speak cockney after watching EastEnders...

Do you believe you should run about fighting crime dressed as a bat...

If you answered yes to 1 or more if the above then yes porn will affect your vision of reality.

If you answered no... congratulations...you can distinguish between real life and fantasy.
