I don't know any Muslim swingers so I can't comment on that. My view of Ramadan is that anyone who can do it especially at this time of year has my respect.

We love Ramadan, we live in a Muslim area of Preston and we get lots of lovely food off our neighbours lol

Our only gripe is young kids running up and down the street late/early on.

Where I used to live there were a few Muslim families in my street, they always used to share their food when they broke their fast. I loved their curried sweet potato. Tried making it, can't do it.

I work in a type of residential environment and there are two Muslims fasting at the moment. It has been so difficult for them with the weather and the long days. Trying to keep them busy is our main priority at the moment, but too busy they collapse! Mainly stuff like pool games and colouring. One is using his time between prayers to learn to use the internet.

We have muslim neighbours and love to see how they all meet up for food at their house.

We always know when its that time as they all troop past the house carrying chairs/tables and massive bowls of amazing smelling food.

It is a lovely thing for families to do.

Wish our family enjoyed getting together like that.

If you got nothing good to say don't say anything at all. Dont talk about anyone's religious, no matter if its Islam, Christianity, Hinduism.....when your just going to criticise something you dont understand. You do not know anything about Islam or Ramadan so don't speak a word about it. You're a mature couple so you should be setting an example, and for goodness sake have some respect !. Fasting itself is going well, not to difficult as the weather is kind to us, just long hours. The key is to stay hydrated between those hours.

Talking of the few hours you do get, doesn't stop you from having some fun

Few fundamentals, whatever you do, you do to better yourself. The idea is actually not to spend to much money on food, save and give to those that are less fortunate. Charity is key, ofcourse there's a few more things to consider. Happy to talk if anyone wants to inbox us xx

I'm a Muslim (though not too much of a good one at times lol).

It's nice to see a good thread for once.

Fasting is going well thank you. I work night shifts so it's even better for me. Still difficult but I even go to the gym if I can.

Fasting isn't just about starving yourself. It's about seeing whether you can resist temptations from all walks of life, where that's food, sex or other kinds of entertainment. It's also about being (more) generous during this month to any and all people.

Hope this helps and any questions ask away or PM me.

This post is gold.

So first you ask "what are nonuslim swingers views on ramadan"

They give thier view then you say

"If you got nothing good to say don't say anything at all"

So why ask thier view?

Then a bit if a meandering presumptive rant ending in

"Fukin ignorant idiots"

What happened to if youve got nothing good to say?

You asked for there opinion and thats what you got.

I'm 100% with this.

In a world where it's often said that Muslims don't speak up against the ills of the world, I do think non Muslims also have a duty to be balanced.

Having worked with many, many Muslims in four war zones I can honestly say I have been treated with nothing but kindness and respect.

The general consensus of the Muslims at work is "thank goodness it's not too hot at the moment" The chap on my team is getting a bit tired now though.

Can I ask a question about fasting? I know there are exceptions for young children, serious ill and elderly peopke where necessary. But what about Muslims in parts of Canada or Scandinavia where it never properly gets dark this time if year? When do they eat?

I’m simplifying this a bit but the instruction is if fasting is detrimental to your health then don’t do it. You can make up for it by fasting later when you are in a situation to do so. If you cannot make up for it by fasting later due to ill health and are financially able to do so, then make up for it by feeding a poor person for the number of days of fasting you’ve missed.

I asked a Muslim that very question. The answer was that they would follow the time zone of Mecca in terms of prayer times and fasting.

My old office was full of Muslims (mostly) girls. I'm also a fan of dark skin/hair/eyes but had a particularly great Ramadan with them one Autumn, some of the girls were allowed to finish up early (about an hour before sunset) to go down to the canteen and fix up food. enough was made for the full office every night. Was a real treat for a honky like me.

Not if that denial results in physical inpairment.

You have a point. Muslim swinger is a oxymoron. Yet at the same time Muslims are human being before and after all, so even though they would like to follow certain rules, they are subjected to basic human drives as well.

Well from a religious point of view yes it is, I mean any deeply religious people, Christian, Jewish or Muslim would have exactly the same answer as it is forbidden by their religion.

Yet they are still humans and subject to the same drives as you.

I agree, however to see and call yourself a Muslim involves religious beliefs and a main test of these beliefs is to NOT act on said 'basic human driver's if they are deemed sinful.

That's ok having a discussion about something does not make you bigoted

The simple answer is we don't that's the thing about us Muslim's we are not all made from one template. We don’t all see the world through the same eyes as some would have you believe; I choose to see my god as a forgiving merciful one. I by no means am a perfect Muslim, but I’d like to think I’m a good human with good intentions, I think that is what matters to god in the end.

"I'm a Catholic and eat meat on Fridays! Many people aren't as devout as others."

Tell me about it!

I was at working at a place once, where I was chatting with a couple of Muslim women. One from Turkey, and the other from an African nation. Nigeria or Ghana. I can't remember which*

Anyway, the conversation goes like this:

Woman 1)

Ramadan... Oh yeah... I don't mind giving up the food.

Woman 2 nods

Cuts down on the food bill, I suppose...

Woman 1 nods

Woman 2

(Whispers)

But I can't have me bacon butty. And I do like my bacon butty...

Me

Spluttering out tea.

Woman 1

(Giggles and whispers)

Me too. Can't wait to get back to it!

Me

90 seconds later....

Me

How can you do that! You're Muslim!

They did look a bit embarrassed though.

As did an old boss of mine who was Muslim when he was screaming about the joys of a bacon butty.

And I have family friends who are Muslim who either

Smoke like a chimney

Drink like a fish

Would even bet on two drops of water rolling down a window pane

Or all of the above!

It really tells me one thing. We all have failings or we wouldn't be human.

I do express initial shock at stuff like that then I just laugh because... Well I appreciate their honesty and their acceptance that we humans are not perfect.

We were never meant to be perfect. We just ARE. Why do we always have to BE?

*To all those Nigerian and Ghanaian fabsters out there who think that I should know the difference between the two countries. You're right. I probably should. Please forgive me!

I have no thoughts on it as such, it's a peaceful religious festival and I can't see how anyone could have a problem with that

All the Muslims I know don't make a song and dance about Ramadan and are quite happy to chat about it. Even the guy I catch having a crafty smoke in his car

There isn't a god. So Ramadan, like all other religious festivals, is just nonsense.

I don't disrespect people who believe in their false gods. Each to there own. But I do consider them to be blinkered fools. The monsters that run religions though. They are just abusers.

Yes! Put someone or something in a position of power and that position will be abused. Both sadly are human nature but I also think religion can be a huge force for good and that's human nature too.

Religion isnt the problem, its people interpretation of religion, ive said that many a time, if someone is on this site for sex or whatever its for that, bringing religion into it, is a little odd in my opinion.

By abusers, I don't mean sexual. They abuse peoples consciousness and milk them for cash.

You may notice the decadent splendour of many of the worlds religious buildings. Just think how many more people they could have helped if they weren't so eager to stick their wealthy snouts into the trough. It's just another group of people ruling over another for control and money.

Incorrect. Scientifically, there is no proof either way.

To invoke science in a matter of belief is a non sequitur in any event.

i have no problem with religion

i think it can give great comfort to people in times of need and if it helps great

what i dont like are people who exploit people in these times of need

faith healers should be banned

sometimes it can have a placibo effect but if you have something like cancer god cant heel you

That’s perfectly fine you are entitled to your opinion. Religions aren’t a good or bad force people are.

It’s not just about not eating or drinking, you also have to reframe from fighting, cursing, lying insulting other’s , backbiting, talking to others harshly etc. It’s also about giving to charity, being kinder to other people and so on. It’s about over the course of your life striving to make yourself a better human being, getting rid of your bad habits over time etc.

I’m sure you’ve heard the story about an old man telling his grandson “my son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all.”

“One is Evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy peace, love hope, humility, kindness empathy and truth.”

The boy thinks about it, and then asks “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”

The old man quietly replies “The one you feed”

Weather you believe in a god or not surly trying to become a better human is a good thing.

What kind of a god would happily let children die EVERY hour whilst murderers enjoy a burger...and please don't say 'thats gods will' because that's a pretty fucked up 'will'

And why was hell introduced into the Bible at a later stage like a scary naughty step...

it also seems gods have tired of performing miracles of late...

Nearly all wars are caused by religion...

I must admit after losing some pretty amazing people in my life whilst watching some pretty evil shitmarks live on...I'm happy thinking we're all part of the universe and religion has just enslaved those that seek faith that can't find it in themselves

Interesting views here what started of as one thing to a general view on religion.

Its not right or wrong to pass judgement on people who do beleive or not beleive.

We all have our own reasons to follow what we beleive or not.

"What's the point or fun in starving yourself for 3 weeks in the name of religion? Absolute stupidity !!

Fukin ignorant idiots.

What a strange way to react, you asked for peoples opinion on ramadam and then when you get a negative response you tell them to not speak a word about it.

You asked for there opinion and thats what you got."

It wasn't an opinion. It was abusive.

"What kind of a god would happily let children die EVERY hour whilst murderers enjoy a burger...and please don't say 'thats gods will' because that's a pretty fucked up 'will'

What was the religious cause of world war two?

something about jews wasnt it

...wonder if some people have audible 'doh' moments...

Pot and Kettle

???? How does that even apply ???

Because you're either so racist you think that Jews caused WW2 or you're so dumb you don't realise that anti-semitism isn't a religion. Either way you need the 'doh' moment. "

i dont think anybody thinks jewish people started WW2 but hitlers hatred towards them was a big factor in starting the war

i shall refrain from adding a emoticon at the end incase anybody thinks its aimed and people dieing

Do you not understand that for your point to be valid, the aggressor of WW2 would have to have had a religious cause? Are you seriously suggesting Hitler was a pious man? Again, anti-semitism isn't a religion.

"Without wanting to sound bigotted, how do you Muslim folk on here reconcile your religious beliefs (which I in no way belittle) with swinging?

I'm curious about this too, I work with a devout Muslim who is fasting at the moment. And when I showed him this site he said it's totally sinful and the work of evil??"

Easy they be bad muslims.

Just like all the christians on here.

Nearly everyone cherry picks thier religion.

If somone devoutly followed the word of the quoran 99% of people here would decry them as brutal bigoted barbarians.

"Moderate" when it comes to pretty kuch any of the abrahamic religions really means "bad".

If you knew the first thing about history then you'd know Hitlers anti-semitism was a racist conviction and not a religious one. It was their blood that he hated, not their interpretation of the Torah.

Your logic is also ridiculous because you don't understand that when a non-religious person hates a religious person, religion isn't causing that dispute.

Sorry but I can't be bothered arguing with people who invoke historical references to support their prejudices but clearly don't know the first thing about it so I won't be responding to you anymore.

yes your right it wasn't his motive, and nor was the 1st world war about religion..

nor where any of Napoleons campaigns about religion..

nor the American and English civil wars, the Boer wars, the 100 years war..

there's probably a few more in the last thousand years iv'e omitted to mention..

probably more to do with power and control of other peoples resources or something..

Race and ethnicity aren't the same. Yes Jews are a race and Judaism is a religion, many Jews are atheists. I assure that the Nazi's killed anyone with Jewish blood, not just those attending the synagogue. Seriously, read Mein Kampf. The whole Nazi ideology is about race and blood.

So in your head, a non-religious group commit genocide against a group that we'll call religious for the sake of debate, but it's the religion that is the cause of that??? Just explain that one to me because I can't get my head around it sorry

Hitler saw them as a separate race. And he claimed that 'race' to be sub human.

He also claimed that Aryans were a race - there's no such race. He believed they were the superior race.

Also it is clear that the Germans under Hitler started the war when they invaded Poland.

But let's not let pesky facts in the way.

Probably not wise to argue about it if you know nothing about it.

Incidentally, I didn't study history either but I am informed about the topic.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."

this..

At the end of the day, what we all believe is up to us and our own private business. None of us has the monopoly on knowledge of 'the truth'. The best we can do is follow what we feel is right.

On both sides of the argument there are good and bad people, but the best people are secure in their own thoughts and happy to treat those with a different view with respect and dignity.

"What kind of a god would happily let children die EVERY hour whilst murderers enjoy a burger...and please don't say 'thats gods will' because that's a pretty fucked up 'will'

What was the religious cause of world war two?

something about jews wasnt it

We joined the war before we knew the jews where being exterminated.

We only found out about that when we liberated the camps

Strictly speaking we knew way before the end of the war. Churchill even decided against bombing Auschwitz or its connected rail lines. "

Did i say the end of the war?

The camps had bren inspected and thier purpose hidden we just thought for the longest ot times they where concentration or internment camps.

Exactly like america was tunning for the Japanese.

We knew the camps existed but we did not know about the industrial scale massacre when we made our decision to enter the war.

bloke was a nut ..

No the bloke latched on to a centuries old prejudice and united people with him using that hatred.

He was disgusting. He wasn't a nut. The worst decisions he made were all done while he was in decent enough health. "

He was a piss por military comander though fortunately.

The more paranoid he came and the more power he took from his frankly brilliant generals thr better the war went fir the allies

It had nothing to do with why we entered the war and that's not been mentioned.

But yes we did know about millions of Jews disappearing.

A couple of men escaped Auschwitz and reported on precisely what was happening. We knew.

Hard to accept but that's the truth.

Oh and only Theriesenstadt (just outside Prague) was inspected by the Red Cross. And yes the truth was hidden there but it was not a death camp (all the Operation Reinhard camps were in Poland ). It was a transit camp.

Yup and his book is embarrassingly bad too! Tells you all you need to know about the rationality of people that get whipped up by prejudice.

Someone said that all wars have a religious cause. Someone else quoted WWII. Then someone said it was religious because of antisemitism.

And ... here we are.

And a good portion of this is nonsense. Nothing to do with ramadan. This forum post should be closed

I have no idea. You can blame me for the ethics bit but I have no idea how it went to WWII.

You asked a question and it got answered. What you should have done is, at the end of your message put - "positive answers only as I'm Muslim and I will take offence at negative values, nee throw in the racist card, also if I don't some one will.

Sorry but I also think it's a load of rubbish.

"What's the point or fun in starving yourself for 3 weeks in the name of religion? Absolute stupidity !!"

It is to make them realise how it feels to be poor and have no food or water.

Not a bad idea really. We could all use some perspective.

"Without wanting to sound bigotted, how do you Muslim folk on here reconcile your religious beliefs (which I in no way belittle) with swinging?

You have a point. Muslim swinger is a oxymoron. Yet at the same time Muslims are human being before and after all, so even though they would like to follow certain rules, they are subjected to basic human drives as well. "
