I was wondering what people's views are on stretch marks... I'm so conscious of mine and didn't know whether they disgust people or whether I'm just being stupid! Hubby loves them which is all I really care about but I wouldn't want to gross someone out if I were to meet them!

I never get comments like this. What makes a woman real? Really baffles me.

IMO there's nothing wrong with stretch marks.

I wouldn't worry. Most people on here are what they are - real people.

Certainly, I don't expect people I meet to be airbrushed, glossy magazine cover folks,

I know I'm not!

I'm very conscious of mine too but the vast majority of women who've had kids have them to a greater or lesser degree and we have to keep reminding ourselves that we've bloody well earned them! Most people understand that as very few of us are perfect and I'd be astonished if those rude enough to actually convey being 'grossed out' about something so natural are immaculate specimens either. Overall, you've got a great looking body ... a smattering of stretch marks should be irrelevant

My ex wife has really bad stretch marks and I was the only person she ever allowed to see her tummy. It made me feel special and I used to call it my comfort blanket. They are just part of being a woman, and many men get them too. I certainly wouldn't be put off by them and I certainly wouldn't make reference to them during a meet.

I don't like mine, I've had three sections one of my pregnancies were twin so my belly's been through the mill, I have a lot of stretch marks, a thick scare from the sections and it saggy

I always try to keep it covered even when having sex but as much as I hate it I think I view it a lot worse than other people do because when people have seen it nobodies ever got dressed and run off

We always see our faults worse than other people do

The original comment never said anything about babies?? And as others above have said, women get stretch marks whether pregnant or not. The OP was just trying to make someone feel better. There's so much anger and vitriol in the forums lately that a seemingly innocent comment gets slated. It's not a nice place to be lately x

Can we please drop the 'real women' line? I get that it's intended to be a body positive comment towards those who don't fit into the classic media portrayal of beauty and that's great! However it's actually really damaging and conversely body shaming to those who naturally don't have 'curves' / big boobs / stretch marks / freckles or any myriad other attributes traditionally considered to be negative. 'you're a fake woman if you don't have these things'.

Everybody has their own idea of what a real woman is though

Some men think big women are real women some men think slim women are real women, stretch marks have nothing to do with size any size woman can have stretch marks but if somebody's idea of a real woman is one with stretch marks surely that's for them to decide and say

Why do we have the rights to dictate what others see as real woman And why are they not allowed to voice that opinion

Everybody's going to get offended over something, if you only said stuff that didn't offend anybody you'd never bloody talk

I've got quite a few myself as a result of my previous lifelong excessive weight that are becoming less and less noticeable over time as the skin tightens up.

I must admit I'm not really that bothered as i think in terms of how much things have improved and not how imperfect things are.

I wouldn't say I'm massively body confident but having gone to a gym for the last five years where everyone changes communally and spending a few days at a Spanish nudist beach last year has really made me feel a lot more confident and now I really don't care.. I'll fling it off at the drop of a hat

Some couples are struggling with childlessness and comments like this can be really upsetting.

I think the point was that lots of media pictures would airbrush stretch marks as an imperfection and the person is trying to say that stretch marks are a natural part of many people's lives and therefore they look more relatable.

As for the people talking about them being amazing - get real. "

You know these white knights will say anything

So women who can't have children or don't have children aren't really women in your opinion? What a stupid fucking comment.

Wow.. So much anger in one comment!

I bet if I said the Mrs was insecure about her ear lobes then some moron would come on here talking about he's the president of the south east ear lobe appreciation society.

"I was wondering what people's views are on stretch marks... I'm so conscious of mine and didn't know whether they disgust people or whether I'm just being stupid! Hubby loves them which is all I really care about but I wouldn't want to gross someone out if I were to meet them!

If you are really that self conscious that you are really worried about a few stretch marks then meeting is going to be really traumatic for you. Work on your self confidence first."

I've already had a couple of meets but it's just something in the back of my mind. I wouldn't say they were traumatic! it's just I feel a little bit conscious of them being naked in front of someone new for the first time - just wanted other people's views

Ok well my views are that i think of them as insignificant. I don't notice mine or other people's that's why I'm surprised when people worry about such things.

They are just a fact of life. I have them on my back, and tell people I was flogged in the workhouse as a kid. I read that Bio oil can help.

No, but I'm pretty sure that's what the OP was talking about, and what the "real women" comment was about.

Not an issue. None of us are like the airbrushed images seen in photos. If you have them then I'm sure no one needs to either focus on them or comment. It's all part of life and maturing. You look great to me. Be proud of who you are.

I hate that initial moment with someone new when they are seen for the first time. This is my issue, no one has ever reacted in a negative way, in fact no one ever has any kind of reaction to them at all until I draw attention to them trying to hide them or being self conscious about them. Usually I get told 'shuuuut up and get over here'!

Go for it and remember they are only a minor part of the full package you bring to a meet.
