Okay, question for all.

Is it just us that get frustrated with being winked at, we take a look, like what we see, maybe an opening email by reply, ,,,,and then nothing!! How rude!

No but plenty like them.

We'd rather check out a wink than a poor copy and paste message or just a hi. Plus it means we can check the person out and see if we actually fancy them before any messaging.

I use a wink to give a subtle nudge that I'm interested. To be fair, I do usually follow it up with a message if I'm interested in your profile, but it's harmless wink, if I get a wink back then I assume a little mutual attraction or interest is there. X

You Dont Need to Know, right now

"I use a wink to give a subtle nudge that I'm interested. "

It's a good job that you haven't winked me, as your subtlety would be completely wasted I dislike winks, I don't send them, I don't look at them. As a way of getting on my radar it's completely ineffective. If I could, I would turn off winks completely, and trigger a bounce-back "this profile does not accept winks", so that people know that it hasn't registered.

I'm sure winks are useful between couples and single females, but they're not for me!

I like the winks don't mind getting them either view them as a potential ice breaker / conversation starter

I do always respond to anyone who winks at me and anyone that messages back after receiving a wink from me

We get this. Someone winks, but because we feel it is rude to just wink back, send the email in reply and nothing.

Why wink if you don't want to talk?

i can see why people wink though as it must be frustrating to write out individual messages and not get replies. I can also see why people cut and paste.

Bit of a catch 22!

don't like winks at all and generally get ignored. No substitute for a good opening message

Winks are completely pointless in my opinion.

If they read my profile, they'd see I won't chat without a face pic, and so winking with no face pics is a waste of their time.

Also people winking who live miles away, also pointless.

Love a good wink. Both sending and receiving. Often an initial conversation starter and says that you like there profile. If we sat here and wrote individual messages on a daily basis fab would be our life. A well constructed message can often take up to twenty minutes to write unless you all want copy and paste or "alright babe" shite.

OP we don't think it's rude at all just a friendly quick hello.

Without wishing to sound rude, I wonder if those who dislike winks ever send out well written opening messages.

If not it seems as though they are almost wanting people to prove they are good enough.

We don't tend to send winks but I wouldn't condemn those that do.

I've had meets as a result of a wink or 2.....they must serve a purpose otherwise the site would not keep this function .....Carry on winking !"

I would say it depends if the other person has the ability to message you back as some are blocked due to filters and such. Otherwise unless you don't fancy your type then just take it as a compliment.

We love winks but we know what you mean. Often we wink back or message to say thanks and don't hear from them. Makes you wonder why they bothered.
