Why do people feel the need to fake profiles

I've been chatting with a person for a few days now and her picture was lovely and we really got on well in our conversations.

She/he lead me to believe we had the same interests and I thought I had hit the jackpot.

Up until it came to exchanging pictures. They sent me about 7 pictures of the most stunning lady and then I thought this has got to be too good to be true. Then I asked for a chat on the phone, they made every excuse that they had to be really quiet so they couldn't speak. So I phoned her/him and they tried to put the most pathetic female voice on I have ever heard.

Anyway, are men really that sad that they get a kick out of fake profiles? My message to all those that do it is to grow a pair and sort yourself out if you feel the need to hide you must be very ugly and if I found the guy who had done it to me I would make very ugly.

Yes, really fucked up.

What goes through peoples heads to give their number then try sound like a woman.

It was unbelievable.

Haha this is brilliant.. we had a guy on POF pretending to be a girl and sent us a voice message..

He sounded just like brians mother from the "life of brian".. we laughed for days off the back of that one

On a serious note If it was a male pretending to be a female report the profile to Admin. They will check it out and more than likely close the account.

This has become a hobby for some people. They call it "catfishing"~ Creating a bogus online dating profile to see who takes the bait and how far you can take them with it.

I don't understand the endgame or the thrill they get from it. They have to know eventually you'll ask for a meet.

As funny as that sounds,it also can be a dangerous thing with having fake profiles especially for single women as the people that are setting up fake profiles can/could be anyone,like someone mentioned before they need reporting to admin
