"I suffer with a condition called 'Chronic Cluster Headaches' also known as Suicide Headaches! I've been in and out of neurological hospitals for years now, and unfortunately there is no cure for the condition. I sympathise with anyone who has more than one headache a week, my worst spell was once over a 3 month period, I had over 790 attacks, and I'm gonna be honest I found it that hard to deal with I very nearly confirmed the conditions name sake. If you are visiting a doctor and are finding it difficult to get them understanding what you are going through, I found a website that is superb and can answer a lot of questions you might have. It's called ouchuk " I really feel for you that must be awful, ive been to doctor many times and even talked to doctors at work about them ,sometimes i can get one every day of the week ,the strange thing is ive learnt to live with the pain ,

"I used to. Then I got referred to the neurologists. Had mri, ct etc. All clear. Then had a lumbar puncture and found the pressure in the fluid around the brain was raised. So put on meds. Have since had another lumbar puncture levels were still high so drained so fluid off. Did the same the first time. I have been diagnosed with something called idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Or Iih. Basically the fluid doesn't drain from around the brain as it's supposed to so the pressure builds up and causes severe headaches. It's prob more common than people realise, but not many people have heard of it. Just thought I'd share. " I went to see the neurologist just last week, and he Said my pressure levels were fine, had visual fields all fine,so i mentioned the glasses i wear ,and said i got them from the pound shop, and his reply was ,as long as you can see through them that's all that matters,as i thought they might be causing the headaches. The only other thing i can think of ,is it could be the phone screen or computer screen as i do spend quite a bit of time on them sometimes.

"Anyone else suffer from daily or weekly headaches? Had tests but nothing wrong, just have to live with them." The best treatment for headaches is sex, it is not a cure as the headache will come back later but it is a good treatment. All those ladies who use a headache as an excuse not to have sex are actually turning down the very thing that will relive the symptoms

"If your specialist discounted glasses without even suggesting an eye test, told you not to take codeine, found nothing but hasn't offered you anything else to combat the headache I'd ask for a second opinion. Unless it's just for a few weeks to check for medication overuse. There are lots of different medications to combat headache, specific pain clinics etc. You should get your eyes tested to discount that, reduce and hopefully remove caffeine, do exercises to strengthen your muscles (not body building, strengthen core muscles and cardio as that's good to combat headache) and do a food diary to see if there's a correlation between anything and the headache. Long term sufferer of 15 migraines a month here." I feel for you i really do ,that must be awful, all he said was dont take anymore paracetamol in a regular basis as they cause headaches,so i just put up with them now,my own gp gave me Migraleve but i dont want to take them as they make you sleepy .

"Also any dyslexia or similar conditions? maybe " Can show up wth reading books and computer use and when stressed as you may have evolved coping strategies - have a look on google for the uk group. Could always be a combination of things if the headaches are worse after prolonged reading, watching TV or computer or mobile use.

I am under the care of Dr M at the institute of neurology in London who I am sure you have heard of if you have found OUCH. Pamela, You say you saw a consultant, was he a neurologist? As a lot of neuro's will openly admit their training for headaches was less than 3 hours. The first few I saw I knew more about my CH than they did and they advised I saw a neuro who specialised in headaches as there are a lot of headache conditions that normal tests will not diagnose. They react differently with everyone.

Was only picked up at an eye test and she was referred to a Specialist straightaway. Her vision had deteriorated slightly but the medication has paused that and she now has quarterly checks on the pressure build up.

Mr CC" I see the same consultant as yourself, and I'm also waiting for the ONS , but I'm constantly hitting brickwalls with the funding. The powers that be don't seem to want to pay for it. And because of it being such a rare condition it's becoming really difficult. I suggested to Dr M about having it done privately, to which he answered I wouldn't advise going down that route because if anything was to go wrong with the device after the NHS wouldn't fund it. And because of the battery needs to be changed after 5 years or so they wouldn't even pay for that. So you're stuck in between a rock and a hard place. I hope you have more luck than I'm having because the success rate of this operation looks very positive for CH sufferers
