There are a million reasons why that might be. Who cares anyway? He might be straight 95% of the time but on occasion find a guy or tv' attractive.

I don't get why this is an issue for people as long as we practice safe sex, and not every bi guy is into anal or kissing or whatever, does that mean they're 30% bi? Is there a scale or some way to quantify how bi you are?

Pigeonholing and absolutes don't apply to the spectrum of human sexuality. It's far more complex and fluid for lines not to blur.

The reason I disagree with applying these scales to people is the very reason Kinsey thought such a scale was even necessary.

I don't think applying terms like 'abnormal' and 'socially unacceptable' to gay and bisexual people is where society is at nowadays.

Has there ever been a time in the entire history of Fab where this question hasn't been on the first page of the forum? This place need sticky threads.

The stigma is nowhere near what it was even when I was growing up, but there was a huge stigma against homosexuality in the media as recently as 10 years ago. I was out of school at the end of the 90s, and *no-one* I knew in school was out; you do internalise all that shit growing up, and even when you know intellectually it's fine it's still not easy emotionally. Being 'honest' isn't always easy when there's a very real risk of harm that comes with it.

I can only imagine what it was like for older guys where the risk of actual violence was much more common. No wonder some people have problems being open about it? Especially when, well, some people on this site are pretty openly homophobic. Just the other day I called out one lady in the bi room who was sounding off on how bi guys were 'icky', despite her herself being, um, bi. The main reason I'm open about being bi is it does act as a convenient filter for those people; I wouldn't want to meet them if I was straight.

Another reason is this place is actually a....well, bit of a shit place to meet guys, honestly. I'm assuming the owners know that, which is why Fabguys exists (and for MM, that's a lot better) A lot of the complaints ladies have are true for guys meeting guys as well - Flakes, married-but-cheating, conversations that go 'Hi', 'Hi', 'SHOW ME PENIS!!!'. Sexuality can also be pretty fluid; I tend to go through phases (Which is largely why I swing instead of date - as much as I hate the ' all bi's are greedy' cliche it's kinda true in my case

) and others do to. Are you bi if at the time you're mainly looking for one gender?

It kinda pisses me off. I'm bisexual so I put bi on my profile. If it puts most of the women off then so be it. I wouldn't want to be with a woman who was put off by bisexuality anyway. Why do labels serve a purpose!

It is a swingers site.

Labels help establish people's sexual interests and expectations. If this was a site for politics or model trains then I wouldn't give a stuff regarding other members sexuality.

Reason being that bisexual people can have sex with both men and women and some intelligent people know that bi men, for example, can play as straight as a straight guy. Best of both. If a man dominantly plays straight, then I don't feel it's unreasonable to describe himself as such. If that man then explores something else, then that is entirely his business, and nobody elses. People should not be expected to disclose all aspects of their sexual interests if they don't want to. We would prefer not to have to disclose our sexuality on our profile, just as we choose not to disclose many aspects of our sexual interests on our profile.

Same could be said for all the 'single' men on here.

I get berated at times for being honest and admitting i'm in a relationship, but strange how all these local guys disappear at weekends, and during the school holidays. A lot of these couples that state 'no cheaters' are probably deluding themselves if they genuinely believe they have never met with married men.

As far as having your rights violated, what right would that be ?

The right to believe some story a complete stranger tells you because it's naughty to lie ?

Our experience appears to be the opposite of most who have left messages. We find that when we go to Chams Monday Bi-Night at least 50% of the guys claim to be straight although they are aware the evening is for Bi folks only . They seem to think it only applies to the ladies.

The bit that really pisses us off is when you ask a guy who is about to play with the lady whether he is bi or straight and he gets totally uptight at the thought that we might think he is Bi, although he is present at Bi-Night

Our experience on fab over the years has forced us to accept that the description "straight" is worthless.

Some guys will outright lie. Some will deny the accusation that they are gay/bi regardless of whatever sexual activities they undertake with other guys.

In fact it was explained to us recently that if a guy "perceives" himself to be a woman then that is exactly what he is. In which case sex between him and another guy is in fact not the homosexual variety but heterosexual. Go figure!

Yes folks the description "straight" is redundant on planet fab.

I've got straight on my profile but I still get out of the blue messages from guys occasionally.

It could be that some guys are only slightly bi at specific times ie for a lady during a threesome or something? and therefore don't want to be bothered with loads of messages from people thinking they are actively looking for other guys.

How slightly is slightly. You are bi if you enjoy ANY sexual activity with other guys. You are bi curious if you are..well curious.

It isnt complicated regardless of what some will claim. Although they are the ones who are so far in the closet they can't admit the truth. Even to themselves.

A fair point but in the absence of any better aid an honest self description of a person's sexual inclination is useful on a sex site.

Deliberate dishonesty however is pretty widespread on this issue.

If someone is bisexual, they have every right to keep that private, should they want to. Nobody should have to disclose every aspect of sexuality. The problem is that we have to check a box when we complete our profiles, thus leaving a dilemma for those who don't want to say what their sexual status is.

I think for us personally, we don't expect people to be brutally honest with us about their sexuality or sexual interests. After all it's just a bit of fun. As long as our boundaries are respected that's all that matters for us.

I totally agree....and I respect everyone's right to state their sexuality as they see fit. I do the same. I state straight, because it is what I am. I have never engaged in a sexual act with another man...unless a female was between us...DP, spit roast etc. I have no intention to ever do so.

I have, however, been involved in group activities involving bisexual men with women. I have no hang-ups whatsoever. I do, however, believe that honesty, up-front, does avoid potential confusion.

To me you are straight, bi-curious or actively bi-sexual......it's not rocket science!
