Just watching this and there's a young guy on there who wants a testicular implant because he's only got one testicle. I thought this was really sad that he was so desperate and willing to go through the pain of surgery just to make him look like he has two testicles. Maybe I can't understand because i'm a woman. After all i'd totally understand a woman with one breast wanting to even things out. I just didn't think that a lover would be that bothered by whether a person has one or two balls. Genuinely wouldn't make any difference to me whatsoever in how attractive I found them. Perhaps it's more about him wanting to feel like a whole man rather than lovers being put off by it? I just felt really sad for him that he felt that way.

I think today people are under a lot of pressure to look "normal" even when you can't see that pert of the body, that I fine very sad that anyone feels they have to go thought surgery just to fit in and look good because that's what they feel they have to do.

I guess it's to do with body consciousness he doesn't need it to function but for himself to feel normal

I imagine that a testicular implant is fairly minor surgery to be honest. Especially if you compare it to something like a boob job which is much more invasive.

That maybe true but having had an op down there trust me it felt very invasive, 10 weeks off work, couldn't even walk for 2 weeks

Men are just as susceptible to body image hang ups as women. Some can deal with 'flaws' like this whereas others will need the security that cosmetic surgery can bring.

I had a testicle removed when I was 16. I was offered a synthetic replacement but declined at the time as I didn't see the point. Aside from a few 'ok so this is me' moments with new partners, it's not something that's really bothered me. Even stripping off in clubs, it doesn't really concern me any more.

I can totally see how it would bother others though.

I have to say, I was surprised when I first arrived on this scene to realize that men face body image issues just as much as women do (yes, I was naive before).

From men who are self conscious of their weight, musculature, and, as you pointed out here....lack of a testicle.

I agree that it wouldn't make a difference to me having a lover with only one, but as you pointed out, I'd feel it if I were missing a breast, no matter how uch my partner said it didn't matter.

It's a bit reassuring to me to know that it's not just women who think we should look a certain way.

I've found a lot of body confidence in the past through years, thanks to this lifestyle choice and the opportunities I've had. If surgery helps someone gain a bit of confidence, well done, and thank god it's available to those who need it.

Seems odd (to me) that anyone has compared this to cosmetic surgery. I presume the guy in question has not had his bollock removed for a laugh. The most common reasons for orchidectomy are cancer and severe trauma in the adult population and testicular torsion (strangulation of the blood supply causing death) in younger patients.

Well it is cosmetic surgury. The replacement will have no medical use. Its soley to make it look "normal", so it is a purely cosmetic surgery.
