Soak in warm salt water for a week and with a bit of luck it'll be fine.No surgery involved. Mine was destined to be ripped out but sorted it.

Look after it the best you can, both now and when it's cleared up. I had the nail removed in my early teens, but it happened again, so they removed the nail and root under general anesthetic. It's one less nail to cut, so it's not that bad. Didn't get 10% discount when I got a pedicure once though.

In growing toenail chat always guaranteed to get me horny. And for horny toenails I recommend a good anti fungal treatment. Mmmm ...just the very thought of anti fungal treatments get me palpating. And for that I recommend anti stress tablets or a lifestyle change. Phwwoooooar! Lifestyle changes guarantee to make me go weak at the knees and for such I recommend a good blood pressure kit ...("Thats enough ridiculous medical remedies!" -FS Ed)

This!

My son has one and is unable to take antibiotics (has autism, can't take pills and the liquid version is unpalatable for him ). Soaking and washing in salty water (cooled boiled and not too much salt), has help to relieve it. Otherwise, surgery is very painful I hear!

My ex had two removed and they caused problems for many years.

I had an ingrowing toenail. Had it operated on 4 times. It wasn't so much the actual operation that hurt, more the local anaesthetic injection. That really did hurt

I have had to cut corner off a nail and pull it out ( ingrown and infected )

Soaked it in salt water for an hour before and afterwards ..

Pain whilst doing it was excruciating .. Little choice tho ..
