We are thinking of holding a party at the new house about 5/6 couples, has anyone done a party of the same size and to ensure 10 peeps how many should you invite to compensate for drop outs?

There's no magic formula.

Invite the right 5-6 couples and they'll all show up. Get your choice of guests wrong and you may end up alone on the night.

Maybe start with your own verifications list and others you've met then spread out from there.
