How many of you have attended an organised house party and more importantly would expect to pay for the pleasure? If so how much is a fair price as I'm sure there is a need to cover cost of refreshment etc

We have been part of a group that organise parties and the cost for one at home usually works out at around £300; we have never charged and would never charge unless booking a high end venue and for that we have always showed everyone the invoice and split the cost equally between everyone attending. Hope that makes sense. Have fun X

cahoots

Never been to one as we prefer clubs but if we went somewhere for dinner, let's say, we would take wine and beer plus probably chocs as a thank you to the host so the cost would probably be over £20 so somewhere in the region would sound acceptable I would think.

Brighton - even Hove!

I've attended one and didn't pay anything nor did I expect to. If it was people I didn't know I'd take a bottle of wine or a minimum contribution to cover 'expenses' although I think in reality, I'd say no to anything organised on a monetary basis.

We've attended a few since we started on here. Someone from here, who's local to us and from there it gained momentum. We've not been asked to pay or even had it suggested. The only ask was bring a bottle if you wish.

village between York and Hull

We attend quite a few house partys and they vary from free to £20 per couple. A lot depends whats on offer. One we pay £20 for lays on hot food, has a hot tub, free mixers and even supply homebrew so think it is more than acceptable. We have seen some charging more than clubs and there is nothing on offer so we tend to avoid those.

Thanks for the responses so far.... Will throw in this as an extra for comment

I, in response to a couple profile on the site, asked for details and was told to come along and have fun. It would be just a small matter of £50 I felt this to be totally extreme particularly as the party is at their place I believe!

We just don't get it, we would never charge for a dinner party so why charge for a house party. We always put on a hot Buffett, a selection of drinks, had condoms. Lube and mints everywhere. We had a hot tub and breakfast for those staying(usually around 8-10). This would cost us around £300, but if you want to host a party that's what you do and you just ask people to bring a bottle. Anyway that's just how we and those we know do it. Each to their own; people cab charge but people don't have to go. It's all about choice. Have fun out there X

We would be the same if we hosted one, however if we were attending one we would quite happily pay our share or bring what the host needed (drinks or food etc).

ok in people defence those organizing house parties do want people to show up and join in. even normal meets you get time wasters and no shows i suppose it means you are serious and you will attend. ratio numbers of attendees is quite important. if they dont know you, how else can they make sure you'll show up?

meeting some organizers they were unsure that i would turn up as a single female, apparently its common for them to have second thoughts too. its their party, their rules x

Have to be honest it does take a lot of planning but we always meet people socially first and by doing this we have never had any major issues. Usually only 1 or 2 dropping out but still leaves around 15 or so for a great evening. X
