Ok so you have found a person/people that you're interested in meeting, read their profile and they seem to like what you like and you've sent a couple of messages and all seems wonderful.

You send your face pics and ask for theirs. They seem ok but there is just something about them ........

What puts you off? Could it be that they are not attractive enough or maybe too attractive? Too fat, too thin? The guy is bald or the woman wears too much make-up?

What are the things for you that would turn it from lets go to no no??

Hard to say it could be a number of things. Older than their years seems to be a current one. My ex husband is 60 in April, not a wrinkle, line or grey hair, but men younger than him are lined and wrinkled like Sid James and only in their late 40s early 50s....not nice!

If the messaging has been ok, we're not usually put off by the pics.

Some people look better in pics than others and people have told us that we look better than our photos so it must apply to others too.

It's usually the first face to face meet that is the definative moment for us.

We've turned down more people after a face to face meet than we have after seeing photos

On the other hand, we've never been turned down after a face to face meet, but have after just exchanging photos

From responses so far it sounds like we are really picky!!!

We dont tend to do social meets first although we meet people after meeting them at a social ... if that make sense??? We tend to make most decisions very much from message/chat contact and face pics.

We also tend to find that either I will like him but Lee doesnt like her and vica versa. Sometimes we just cant seem to put our finger on what it is and sometimes it is obvious!!

We all have different selection criteria so don't be surprised that you get mixed _iews in here.

It's always difficult to get a 4 way attraction, most couples feel the same.

For example, I am as put off by a girl who is stunningly attractive as I am by a couple who are unattractive. I dont feel threatened as I know our relationship is solid so I'm not sure why!!

It's not only the male/female attraction for us. If I don't like the other guy, for whatever reason, there's no way I'd let him near my wife. I can understand your point about people being "too attractive", but we don't seem to attract those type of people. A lot of ladies feel the same way as you do on that point.

From a picture i look in the background and if it looks really dirty it doesn't help. Also teeth if they are bad its a turn off too.

I go on a feeling.i guess. Recently i was chatting with a someone and after seeing their picture we both were still interested but for me the person wasnt able to mail me in more than 5 words at a time so felt i would be the only one talking and like confident men. This person was also the lower age range and just felt it wasnt going to be right. Just a feeling.

I recall arranging a meet after several telephone conversations. We'd got on well and only then exchanged pics. She looked like a bloke, but a date had been fixed.

Of course the photo didn't do the lady justice and we went on to meet several times over a 2 year period. Had I seen the photo sooner we may never have met.

Nowadays, I can't claim not to be interested in the photo, but try to discount the image when chasing a meet.

Face pictures can put me off, text talk, distance, its a variety of things but yes often the face picture can be enough

We met a couple after seeing some rather nice pics, but in reality the Mrs looked more like a bloke than Mr

And this is the way it should be but sadly not how many times ive been passed on by were not all photogenic

Never trust photo's now! We did at first and it got us into a tricky situation or two... now we always meet socially first as to give us and them an opportunity to actually find physical attraction or not.

As to answering the op... I personally don't like men who look like boys, it does nothing for me whatsoever. Hubby doesn't like women who remind him of men i.e. tomboys/no effort to look feminine.

We try not to go on photos - not looking for film star good looks etc - except for the age factor. Maybe we don't look our age but we've seen some pics of people who say they're younger than us but look old enough to be our parents.

We like to meet socially first and some meets where we thought we'd get on have been a definite NO but others where we weren't too sure have been great fun. If the couple have a sense of humour and we're talking like old friends within minutes of meeting (and are asked to leave the pub coz the staff want to go home) then that's what I'm looking for.
