I wonder who would those health workers and fire fighters be looking after if not for the soldiers who fought in WW1 and WW2. You have no idea what they have to go through so please keep stupid comments like that to yourself.

"NHS here...love my job and love the NHS and all public services. The fact we need to fight to keep them from privatisation is insane!!!" Mrs works in NHS, their area has just been taken over by virgin and she says they are a 100 times better than the useless managers that she worked under before. The NHS is a brilliant idea ruined by political dogma and incompetent managers, 100% respect to those that work at the coal face and do all the shit jobs though.

Mrs Surrey's PCT was also taken over and they seem to have similar managers, far fewer staff and funding seems to be scarcer across the board but the managers do have a lovely set of offices..

I'm very well aware that every pair of hands was needed during the wars. Everyone who could, participated. I'm also aware that many ex military people join other sectors of public services afterwards. I did not mean to diminish any of the public services, hence why I said I appreciate them all. I'm sorry if my argument came off a little strong but stereotyping soldiers in such way is out of place.

"Lots of appreciation threads recently so how about for all those nurses, doctors and paramedics in fact all those with association with the nhs make yourselves known so we can appreciate you. Tray's a nurse and gets lots of appreciation before her shift after her shift and all those times in between shifts" It is probably not worth saying. Yes, appreciation to most working in the NHS. But not the Dr Shipmans of this world. Not everyone is an angel. Sorry to put a downer on it. While most are praiseworthy, not all are.

"Worked in the NHS for years.. Now looking to retrain and return after 14yrs (think my current career has run its course and it would be nice to see my son before he's asleep.) massive respect for all parts of the healthcare community, including the Dr's. NHS, private and military.. They all do a grand job. " I retrained after 6 years and nothings changed and wish you the best with your retraining and totally agree all our nhs, police, fire and military do a grand but undervalued job xx

"im sure there are some good people who work in the nhs. Praps its just me who gets the useless self important cunts." See, I do appreciate that there are very many wonderful people in our NHS. But I do agree that there are cunts, too, like in every walk of life. Don't get me started on the standard of care I witnessed when my father in law was in a ward. I have been the beneficiary of a great NHS service ... But just because you are employed by the NHS does not make you a great person. You still have to be a great person.

There's room for improved operating, improved running etc etc for sure as there is in most be it priv or public. However beating people up with their pensions, working hours, salary, no pay rises whilst working for out've touch, inept management plus operating ££ budgets shrinking at a greater rate the country's demands are expanding is a bit of a piss take.

There is always going to be room for improvement, the problem is the NHS was never ment to be a profit making company the idea was everything the NHS made went back into the NHS sadly that no longer applies, now days so many people have shares in it and they all want their share of the profit before anything goes back into the hospital, its massively understaffed and hospital doctors and nurse's work such long hours mistakes will be made, when i work in oncology 24+ hour shifts were usual, who can keep focused when your working those sorts of hours but when they don't have the staff to take over your shift and your asked to work over what can you do, so no i'm going to bed and leave the ward even more understaffed or work over My daughter ended up having a hystarectomy at 18 because of NHS fuck ups, i also had to go private to get an operation on my other daugher's legs because after 15 years she was still on the waiting list and i decided enough was enough and i ended up paying for it Most people will have complaints about the NHS and even though there indeed are cunts that work there, i know i've worked with a few, the truth is most do the best they can with what they have to work with
